New Cactus Base Henderson Field Guadalcanal Aug. 1942

I thought I had completed my Cactus Base until I flew a mission out of it and found it wasn`t what I wanted so I did it again this time using bitmaps and it worked out ok. Here are some pics. One is mine and the other is a pic. of the real thing. Give me some comments on what you think.

I have no improvement suggestions based on my scenery knowledge.
It appears to be nicely done.
:applause:

Looks like a good rendition of the photo Bob. But as i stare at the two for comparison, my mind drifts to the consideration of how this will affect any existing Maskrider improvements at this location and any existing Cactus/Henderson missions using MR's work. I know that any mission can be edited to change the coordinates of home bases, but is this something exclusive to your own missions "as is" or have incorporated the same exact airbase.dat data as Maskrider's Henderson?

I think you've captured the essence rather well, well done! :medals:

If you can stand the MB object placement work, I would add some different single trees around the edges &/or change the orientation of some the tree-line blocks just to make them look less cookie-cutter like. At the moment my eye is drawn to the uniformity of the tree-lines - however eye-candy is an extra bonus. This is a combat sim, & sometimes I forget that :stupid:

Nice Job bobhegf

I am looking forward to get this add-on, in its final version
Thank you for your job

and a Happy New Year

Bearcat 241, my Cactus won`t effect MR`s base or missions. I took that into consideration when building my base. MR`s base is complete where as you can see mine is a work in progress. My base is what Henderson Field looked like in Aug. of 1942. My missions will all be fiction based very tightly around historic fact. There will be from 30 to 50 missions flown by one fictional Navy pilot TAD to VMF 223. As I said the missions are all based on historic fact and on day to day operations flown by VMF 223,224 and VF5 as well as VMSB 232. They will cover a period of time from Aug 20 1942 to Oct. 11 1942 when VMF 223,224,VF5 and VMSB 232 left the island.

If people follow my instructions you can add and take out my scenery in less than 5 min. and put back in the stock Henderson Field and that includes the stock airbase data info. This will allow you to add MR`s scenery which I to will be using later for more missions.

UncleTgt, I took a look at it and agree, but then took a look at some pics of the real thing and it had that cooki-cutter look. I am going to add some more trees and will try your suggestion. I want to try to stay as close to stock as much as possible to hold up the frame rates.

My hard drive is locking up again so I may lose everything. I am short on CDs at the present but I did manage to save all the Cactus and Tulagi files on a cd.

Thanks bobhegf!!

I am in awe of you all that can build airbases so well.

I have done two. Manna South Sumatra and Miyaki Jima south of Okinawa. Both are very, very basic and I have to use MB to create the ground objects in layouts versus actually building them in FSSC.

Achim has been of great help just to get the two built, though not to his level of expertise.

One day I hope to be able to attain yours and Achim's level of airbase construction, but then, I was Marine not a Seabee.

I was good at destroying things, not so good at building them.....:very_drunk:

bobhegf,

Somebody has let the US Army infect Henderson!

Marines don't stand around with their hands in their pockets. Not even wing wiper Marines......:very_drunk:
