Here's a quote from Manfred concerning the new 2.2 version:
We have made flying the Starliner just a bit more challenging
with dynamic engine failure and engine status readouts to give adequate prior warning. For advanced and adventurous users, carb heat functionality has been included as an option, and Howard has written a tutorial on manual leaning.
I'm not into challenges any more, so I'll stick with 2.1.
I tried using with and without the 'automixture' checked and unchecked. Didn't make a difference. Just so many flickers of the panel gauges. Nothing. That was it. Being the lazy soul that I am,...I'd like to hit the Ctrl+E keys and bring the Connie to life. Am I missing a step or two?
If you bfly it by the book(Howards notes) there will be no big differnce.Abuse it and you will find engines fail. The difference between std and advanced is in flying not so big(although it requires a completely different FDE setting to get the fuel metering going) but allows you if you are in the longhaul business the optimize your fuel flow
Just to check what happens on the failure side fly it flat out(full map/full RPM long enough at 7000 feet(And tuen on the status panel)
If you don't want the slight increase in challenge 2.2 has a "basic" FDE which improves the handling a little bit more and does NOT change the complexity.
But like Roland said the advanced version is not "out to get you" it just adds a few things that make flying her a bit more interesting on those long haul flights that she is famous for.
