New Freeware F-111 Aardvark Revamp

Blackbird686

SOH-CM-2025
A revamp of the Alphasim F-111 Aardvark, comes with updated panel and additional gauges, some really nice effects. Flies, handles well. Has 32bit paints, sharp looking bird. Uses default Lear 45 sounds, I use Nigel's Definitive F-4 Phantom soundset and it works very nicely with this plane.

You're welcome, mates. I have always wondered that throughout the years of its tenure, all of the mods and updates, flying in the virtual worlds of FS9 and FSX.... the venerable Alphasim F-111 Aardvark's right main gear tire has always been a bit low, when she's sitting on the ground.... Not bad tho, the model seems to sit level and is unaffected by this. Still, it's a part of her character, :star: "There are many Aardvarks, but this one is mine!" LOL!

You chaps figure out a way to bring up an electrical panel for the model, to control the lights, pitot, de-icers, avionics and the battery?

Didn't get to it in time to edit it, but if you want a very detailed gunship grey RAAF series of repaints for the F-111, Karol Chlebowski did a whole series of them for the Alphasim Piggy. These paints cover all of the F-111 models included in this new update, including more detailed textures for the bomb loadouts and Pav-Tac pod. With a bit of "tweaking" they'll work beautifully. Just search "F-111, ALphasim" or "Karol Chlebowski" over at Flightsim.

Have fun, ya'll,

And.... If Steve Hess' panel not to your taste Karol Chlebowski also did a series of HUD/Panel upgrades (complete with a TFR gauge)

Bump...:bump:

There is some discussion about the SHRS Version (FSX) of the Alpha F-111 over in the dark side forum. It may be OT here but I tried that model in my "X" install and one of the things that stands out... the SOUNDS! So I dropped them into the FS9 version and they work very well. Also... the TFR works reasonably well in the FS9 model too. What a BLAST to fly this plane is! Very nicely executed.:applause:

How did you get the TFR to work in FS9? Which parts of the FSX release did you import into FS9?

I played with it all day yesterday trying different combinations without any success.

Thanks for the suggestions. I made up a test folder using the FS9 F-111F model and texture with the FS9 config and airfiles. I dropped the F panel from the FSX version into that, but it was unstable; one time it would load and next time it would CTD. Even when it worked it didn't work. Next I put the FS9 panel back in and added the FSX autopilot to it (renamed the FSX cab file and editted the config to match). When I did that the plane would fly into the ground as soon as I turned on the pitch and roll stability switches; the TFR didn't seem to function at all (even set up a key command for the "reference" transponder select).

If I get ambitious enough to try it again I'll see if using the FSX config and/or airfile helps. At this point I've moved on to other projects (short attention span I guess).

It's a longshot at best, I still think a single model, panel, the sounds, and one texture set with the airfile and aircraft config from the "X"version, and the VC cockpit textures set at 1024 might just be the ticket. Here again, it all may come down to the FSUIPC version if all the heroics mentioned above don't work. Or you could be like me and simply install the SHRS version into your FSX sim. It works great there. :encouragement:
