New Freeware heads up

I supose I should check my links

Sorry, on the page, select the "Northrop T-38 Talon". That will give you the download executable for the T-38 and for the C-17. My mistake, I had already selected them when I copied the link.

Well spotted!
I've always liked the FSD product range.
Between this one, Alphasim (sounds) and Gmax Academy (2d panel), one should be able to cobble together quite an interesting Globemaster III

If I could only get the Altus repaint to unpack. It won't recognize my aircraft install...

If anyone gets it unpacked, please let me know.

The gmax academy's 2d panel works well in the FSD model.
Having a VC is a real plus, especially the view from the window at foot level.

But the Alphasim external model is tops
So they need a good VC: they know what they have to beat now...

It's been a GREAT week for formerly payware releases now going freeware. Iris, AlphaSim and DSB just in the past couple days.

Thanks to anyone and everyone who might be a part of those companies. Giving away your hard work is a noble thing to do.

I've had the T-38/C-17 package since shortly after it was released. I have NEVER gotten the C-17 paints to unpack properly. Even after redownloading at least a dozen different times over the years. And everytime I turned in a support question on it, I always got the "It works fine for us" response. Finally, I just gave up. Other than having to redownload the installers for all the FSD aircraft that I own when I would remove them from my hanger, or rebuild my puter, I have never had any other problems with FSD. I can't get any of the paintsto open now, either. The unpacker wants the exact location in the registry, and since the installer for the C-17 has been removed, there is no registry entry. However, my payware version DOES have the registry entry, and the unpacker still does not, nor ever has worked for me. On ANY of the C-17 paints ONLY. The T-38 paints work fine.

Nice gesture from FSD, very appreciated!
Thank you! :salute:

But how sporty is this plane?
At 3500 ft and 10% N1, it went up to 350 kn. Quite fast for a transport plane, it should be assigned as F/C-17... :d

And yes:
Installers suck! :a1451:
No way to get the 'official' textures installed. :angryfir:
What's the use of those :censored: installers?
People not being able to add a livery by hand shouldn't operate an aircraft! :a1310:

Here's a workaround:
Interestingly enough, the former payware FSD C-17 shares the same texture mapping with the old freeware POSky C-17, made for FS2002!
So any of those old repaints should work, just the file names have to be adapted to the FSD designations.

For the sounds, I'd suggest the Boeing 757/767 Soundpackage by Des Braban - 57MB of neighbourhood-annoying noise...

Cheers,
Markus.

Good catch Wild Bill. The Project Opensky C-17 Altus repaint is the exact same aircraft repaint FSD used. I smell an old feud. Thanks for the tip, now to decyper the designations...

Thanks.
