Just spotted at Flightsim, Jens Kristensens newest ...

FS2004 Sud-Est SE161 Languedoc

Name: se161_10.zip Size: 13,545,104 Date: 12-22-2010
FS2004 Sud-Est SE161 Languedoc, version 1.0. A French airliner of the immediate postwar years, the Languedoc served Air France and a few other airlines until the end of the 1950's. Textures for Air France, LOT (Polish Airlines) and Aviaco (Spain) are included. By Jens B. Kristensen.

Hey Guys,

For anybody who is interested, Mr. Kristensen has also released an updated version of the Douglas DC-4 and C-54 package.

Tonnes of textures and a very nice VC - Search for [FONT=verdana, sans-serif]'dc4_v30.zip' on Avsim.

Regards,
Stratobat

And make sure you get version 3.01 (which is still called 'dc4_v30.zip', confusingly), as Jens put out a fixed version to deal with a couple of texture errors.

This man's output and quality are simply breathtaking, I am in total awe of his genius! :salute:

Same here!

I adopted Jens Kristensen's DC-4 MOI Settings.
They might not be technically accurate, but she flies like a treat!

empty_weight_roll_MOI=1600000
empty_weight_pitch_MOI=525000
empty_weight_yaw_MOI=2000000
empty_weight_coupled_MOI=1

Hi,

If you use the DC3 sounds (default config) you have to modify the prop moi to synchronize the sound with the props when engines shut down

propeller_moi= 106.8

Many thanks Stuart, that works a treat. Got so used to the excellence ( and diversity ) of JBK's aircraft, this little glitch came as a bit of a surprise. Thanks again
David

I noticed that too, but on reading the instructions (Oh, the shame of it! ) I realised I was way over speed. Pulled the nose up until it came back to 140kts and all settled down. Levelled things up and engaged the A/P and had a long steady cruise at 150kts with no probs.

Cheers

The top speed of this aircraft supposed to have been 230 knots! 187 cruise.
This happened just after takeoff at around 135 knots.
Sometimes she's steady up to 190, other times I needed to decelerate back down to 130.
I didn't get any joy out of it.
Anyway, she's working fine now, and I am very grateful for such a well modelled, elegant plane.

Thanks Jens for another classic :applause:

I also had the shakes at around 140 kts, and increased this value ......

empty_weight_pitch_MOI = 484170 ...... up from the original of 217000.

Now it cruises smoothly.

Pete.

There again, you could always climb to cruise altitude and check the performance in true rather than indicated velocities. :icon_lol:

The question of shakes can depend on individual pc fs settings, or pilot drinking habits. :ernae:

Thanks to Jens for another great model of an airliner of the classic age of travel.
