New Kid on the Block - FlightProSim

Jr. Admin
Just came across this, looks interesting has anyone seen or tired it yet?

http://www.flightprosim.com/

I am not sure I am ready for another Flight Simulator, but I am intrigued, I am still browsing the site, and I haven't seen any VC's yet but there are some interesting looking features like Multiplayer Real time Integration with Google Maps, and Air-Air Refueling.

Hey Mike,

Yep.. This one is based on the freeware/openware platform that has been out for a while.

We were just talking about it a couple of days ago.

Might be one amazing sim here in a couple of years.

"The Truth Behind Flight Pro Sim (26 October 2009) When we here at FlightSim.Com first heard about Flight Pro Sim (flightprosim.com) we were excited to think there was a new sim available. However, some research determined that this is nothing more than a boxed version of the well known and long available Flight Gear open source simulator. While there's nothing illegal about any of this, if you want Flight Gear you can download it for free from the Flight Gear web site (www.flightgear.org)"

^^ Flightsim.com NOTAM

This appears to be a blantent attempt to charge money for an open source simulator called Flightgear, which would seem to me to be in violation of the open source GNU public Licence it was develpoped under. you can download the sim and aircraft freely here

http://www.flightgear.org/

It looks like somebody trying to pull a fast one . my two cents worth

Wait wait wait wait... wait...

Before you bash it... Know this.

The 'Open' version is a platform, like a chassis.

The payware version has all the effects and textures, planes, sounds, gauges, etc.

When a firm ask permission to use the platform, they can do with it what ever they like, thus they can add clouds, atmosphere effects, diff terrain textures, their own autogen, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc.

Its the same 'chassis' but a totally diff sim. Its not actually the freeware version. Its very similar, but its packed with things.

Now, with that known, its various features are a bit behind FS2004 and very behind FSX, looking a bit like FS2000 or X-Plane, but its a sim and it works and it has a ton of planes that come with it.

Thats the bottom line and the reality of all of it.

Bill

Its very similar, but its packed with things.

hes taken flightgear with addon planes installed, changed the name, set up affiliates to get the word out and is selling it as something totally different.

See it like this Bill, hes taken fs9, put some addon planes in, changed the name, and is reselling it as "the ultimate flight sim"

I smell BS...

Code:
We use a reputable payment processor that has already paid out over [COLOR=red]1 billion dollars[/COLOR].

This math seems a bit fishy too:

Code:
Purchase Price = $47.00 or $114.00 per sale
You Receive = $30.00 or $79.00 per sale

How does the customer's purchase price of $47 magically inflate to $114???
