OT...Warbirds Library "What New" Strange

Can one of the Admins shed some light on what's happening in the "What's New" section of the library. I really hate to post here about this but I tried the "Contact Us" e-mail (to Willy) but it got bounce with this response three times so far:

"This is an automatically generated Delivery Status Notification.

Delivery to the following recipients is still underway after 9.8 hour(s):

* willy@sim-outhouse.com

Will keep trying and contact you if the message can't be delivered permanently."

It seems since all the CFS2 stuff began appearing, unsusal things have been happening. For instance, one of my uploads along with several others (A2A P-40 for FSX, and Hellcat for CFS2 to name only a couple) remained that the top of the What's New list for over 3 days, each day the post date on these uploads appeared as the current date. What's also unsual is that, regarding my upload, it was already 3 days old when it reappeared at the top of the list. It was uploaded on 4/16 and then reappeared at the top on 4/18, 19, 20, and 21 with these revised popst dates.

In contrast, another of my uploads that was put up on 4/20/12 received the post date of 4/18/12 and went straight to page 4 of what's new!.

I for one enjoy seeing what's new especially if it's something I'm interrested in, as well as seeing who's doing what. Haven't been able to do that in almost a week now because of the stange goings on.

Sorry for posting here but it's the only way I knew to maybe get and answer since contact e-mail doesn't appear to be working.

Thanks for considering this,

Steve

Rami is moving stuff around from the archive to the main library.

I haven't checked the SOH mail today. Guess I need to see what's in there.

Duckie,

Files are being transferred from the old library to the new library. When I approve a bunch of old files, it displaces the new files on the "what's new" screen. To make sure that those who are uploading freeware files from the present get their due, I have been resetting the newest downloads (rotating them slightly) so that people's works sees the face time they deserve.

In order to do this, I need to reset the times and dates. It's not a perfect system, I know. But it at least is giving those who deserve recognition (like you...) their just deserts.

Hey Rami,

Thanks very much for the reply and your BS and T in what is most certainly a thankless job and a huge one at that. I apologize for the "open" post but when my e-mails to the "Contact us" address got bounced, I thought, "Oh no, not again."

Thanks again for the explanation and your reorganizing efforts.

Steve

As far as the contact us button, I try to check it daily, but it's not uncommon for it to go a couple of days without being checked either. I will get to it however.

I understand that the relocation of the old CFS2 files had pushed the really new files down the What's New list, and that (at least temporarily) we have to 2look far down the list to see what's been posted recently. That's OK, since it can't be helped.

Trouble is, now we can't even look down the list very far. It's impossible to get past page three, which is still filled with old CFS2 files. Whether I try to view the pages in sequence or just click on the button for Page 4 (or any other page beyond Page 3) I can't access any other pages.

I don't mind waiting until everything is straightened out to have all the files listed in proper order, but I would sure like to at least be able to dig deeper on the list to see what's being posted. I hope this "glitch within a glitch" can be fixed without too much trouble.

Mick,

I noticed that too, but it's out of my hands at the moment. What I was doing is "resetting" the top fifteen at least once per day, but a couple of days ago, it switched from being fifteen days to one day. I will PM Canelo and see if we can rectify this...

Canelo,

Thanks, I'll reset the non-CFS2 downloads now. :salute:

Good afternoon,

I reset all the non-CFS2 related downloads in reverse chronological order, so they take up the first 26 entries of the "what's new" section. It's not in perfect order, but it gives other sims their due. It will get messed up again, but I'll reset it again Friday afternoon or evening.

(Update: I approved nine CFS2 uploads, but they're still on pages 1 and 2....and again, I will reset it again Friday afternoon)
