• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

new lightweight material developed

Sounds promising but also sound like it has a way to go before it can actually be used. And then it has to be affordable.

That is amazing... One layer of dis-assembled nanno-tubes from one gram of material can cover 2/3rds of a football field....! They can make sheets of paper with this.

This is the same material they say we can make sky elevators with if we can figure out how to bond and mass produce nanno tube materials.

Reminds me of that foil they found in the UFO wreckage in New Mexico. So strong, you couldnt poke knifes through it, but was as thin as cigarrette pacakge foil.

true. usually stuff like that gets developed by the military and trickles down from there. it may not happen tomorrow, but it's coming. keep in mind, most folks on this forum remember when digital clock radios had little cards with numbers on them. people used adding machines. now we give away old computers far more powerful than eniac was.

lionheart, i read about those elevators in another article. seems like a very interesting idea.

And it's the 25th anniversary of the cell phone. Remember how big those suckers were and they cost $4-5,000. Same with computers, look how far we have come in 25 years!
