Meigs Feild Airport is finally back to FS9. This package is a full reproduction of the original airport including 1999 and 2003 airport versions, two taxiway texture sets, configuration utility, correct taxiway layout, correct building placement and type, fully custom textured buildings, detailed taxiways and taxiway edges, night lighting, perimeter fence, and much much more. A special feature within this package is the ability to step forward in time to the 2003 version of the airport. The airport was spontaneously closed. Large Xs were cut preventing aircrafts from departing or arriving.

This is Where I Came In

Such nostalgia...All those familiar buildings.
Sears (NOT Wills) Tower, a stock Cessna.
Will I make a botch of this circuit too?
And the busiest airport just down the road - at night! blew my socks off.
Just as I remember FS4.

Photobucket

Couldn't say... I just loaded up the Meigs scenery and went off to Chicago - for the first time in maybe 10 years!

Edit:
Can someone please find out why so many posts are randomly headed: "Photobucket"???
Especially since you cannot edit the title???
And why COLOR="rgb(160, 82, 45)" is apparently an illegal operation???
It's a colour, just like the other choices...

Hi,

Just out of testing this scenery.
This scenery give me some serious stutters each time the airport came in my view (cokpit view) and also shimmering.
And this with a simple weather and no traffic at all ...
Any other users feedback about ?

I've got the FlyScenery Tacoma Narrows scenery and it also has some stutters.

In the Tacoma Narrows scenery the texture bmp's could do with reducing in size ( most of the bmp's were 1mb in size ) , don't know if that would help with Meigs.

Pete.

Just released at Avsim ..... new textures , reduced in size .....

Pete.

I've often heard that ground lighting (poles in parking lots and such) push lesser systems (like mine) just able to cope over the edge and FPs drop with stutters. On those nice sceneries whose makers throw a bone my way there are instructions on how to remove just those items to help stop the FPS loss, and it usually works. I think the reason is because those lights, with their large reflecting ground effect are always on, and FS handles them something like drawing clouds which we all know soaks up FPs like beer on Pattie's day. Others can bail me out on this (not the beer, I KNOW that's true).

Even if they don't throw a bone, depending on what program their scenery was made with and if you have an object placement program you can sometimes open their various object bgl's and remove objects from their scenery as needed for your system.
