New MTO theatre question...

highpockets

SOH-CM-2025
This is for RAMI.

I have an MTO install with Western Desert and Malta campaigns installed around late 2013. Can install your updated versions of those campaigns along with the updated Beaus in the Sand right over the current ones or should I start a complete new CFS 2 install to do that?

Thanks

Jim,

I woke up out of a dead sleep with my left leg throbbing, and I'm just waiting for the Tyrenol to kick in so I can go back to sleep. So I'll answer your question now. Good thing I'm not working this morning...lol.

The MTO scenery base is the big thing (Watermasks, Rhumba's LOD files, etc.) If you have that, you should be in good shape.

If you have Malta and Gibraltar installed and working, even better. But the auto-installers will pretty much cover those two scenery packages anyway, depending on which one you're using.

What will happen is if the same aircraft and ships are used in different packages, they will overwrite each other. The only place I can see problems is that I often use historical skins for specific aircraft, and one may override the other.

But that's the only problem I can think of, at least at 2am. If anything pops after my morning coffee, (today it will be a double) I'll let you know.

Jim,

As expected, I thought of something else after the coffee kicked in. (My life story...hehe)

The airbase.dat and scenery.cfg used in the campaign package are specific to that campaign only, so if I provide a "master" MTO airbase.dat, I'd use that, because it will work universally for any campaign in the Med.

With the scenery.cfg, check what's provided against what you already have before modifying it.

Western Desert will pretty much just be Libya and Egypt, Beaus in the Sand includes Malta, Libya, Egypt, Italy, Southern France, Pantellaria, Algeria, Sicily, Bari, and Corsica.

I like the new avatar!

I have all the scenery installed along with using your airbase.dat, etc installed and working OK. I just didn't want to go through the process of setting up all that again. I will take a closer look when i have time. I never did install the Beaus. Just had the older version on my files.

Thanks

Highpockets,

Thanks! I was up in the Foxboro / Foxborough area for two medical appointments, and it had been on my list to "update my gear," but I wasn't going to stand two hours in line on my legs. So I got there at 10am before my appointments, and took the selfie. The news wasn't good on that front, but I'll spare you the details. I may be screwed if I have the surgery, and I'm screwed if I don't.
