Oscar-Clouds V3 is a substitute clouds texture for FS2004 and FSX. FSX: 6 types: 128x128, 256x256, 512x512, 1024x1024, 2048x2048, 2048-HD. HD type have a better depth colour. FS9: 4 Sizes: 128x128, 256x256, 512x512, 1024x1024. Textures FS9 are yet HD. In this version 3, Colours are more natural and less contrasted.

Don't know for certain, but I'd bet they couldn't be worse than stock, since the stock textures are 1024x1024 32-bit uncompressed files. That's the most frame-intensive format for most systems. Anything less would only help.
 
I think I am going to have to download those and see how well the FS2004 clouds work in CFS2. Someone sent me a copy of the stock FSX clouds, which they had tweaked for CFS2 use.....and while they looked incredible, they were frame rate killers BIG TIME. I am currently using a set of clouds that a guy did as replacements for the stock FS2000 clouds...much nicer than the stock CFS2 clouds, and easy on frame rates, but they still don't look real enough and get very pixelated up close.
