New payware gazelle for FsX.

Hmm.. a decent Gazelle would get my attention. That one doesn't look too bad until you look closely. Round or curved surfaces aren't particularly round or curved which is a shame. Still.. the price won't break the bank. Thanks for the HU:encouragement:

Like it for the price, have no idea about FDE or anything, not keen on smoke/heat shimmer, but that can be removed, or the rotor blur effect. But i like the model detail and the VC, just have a problem with VC glass reflections, but i'm sure there's a fix for that too.

Wow, that glass reflection really is a bit much. That would definitely have to go. I'd be interested to know what fixes that before I go for this one.

Is this all new ?, there's been a version knocking around by Abacus for a few years, im guessing their's no relation,
cheers ian

I was asked to pass this message on by Sean,

"In the Gazelle thread, could you let them know that if they email the developer, they have an alternative interior model file that tones down the glass reflections. Also, the current addon represents the Gazelle as produced by SOKO in Yugoslavia. The dev is working on Aerospatiale and Westland versions. Paint kit coming in the future as well."

Hello ijay.

Did you checked your video settings before posting those photos?
Do you have all the requirements for this addon?
Acceleration pack ?
What DirectX do you use?

Many pople, including me, bought this helicopter and no one reported this issue, actually it works fantastic.
Those guys made amazing job developing this gazelle and it's not ok to spoil their efforts with post like yours.
Check this forum, there are a lot off screenshots from virtual cockpit and there is no issue with glass reflection:

http://www.pilote-virtuel.com/viewtopic.php?id=76882

Also, I have to say that this Gazelle has absolutely amazing flight model (aerodynamic), never seen something like this before under FSX or P3D. I'm a real gazelle helicopter pilot and this is very realistic. All procedures are 100% realistic...
Did you notice that this is a first turbine helicopter with rotor clutch effect and rotor brake? This feature was available only for piston engine helicopters.
List of flight model features is amazing. I have tested transverse flow effect, vortex ring state, vibrations effect.... it's work perfectly.
They made a very helpful quick manual how to handle with equipment/switches and levers using mouse and keyboard. It's very useful for beginners.
Did you notice that in a folder called "manual" they put a printable checklists? very cool !!!
After pulling some G or performing sharp turns you can hear blade slap effect...
Engine has a cold start availability.
In my opinion, with all this features, this is the best helicopter on market for now!

So.. you like it then Conver:biggrin-new:

ijay's comments weren't unfair and I really don't think he was trying to spoil their efforts my friend. If he doesn't like a particular effect.. then he doesn't like it. If I'd seen the glass reflections like that.. I'd be a little annoyed too!! It appears there's a fix (an alternate model with toned down glass reflections) and I'm sure he'll try it;)

Thanks for your glowing report anyway. Think I'll hang off until the Westland version appears but I'm sure the basics of this model will be incorporated into that one.

What particular effect we are talking about?
I don't think that those guys forgot to tone down glass reflection after all.
It's more closer to bug (due to some video settings or something else) then actual effect.
I would like to see virtual cockpit screenshots from other buyers, mine works great!

Folks please post some screenshots from cockpit.

Hiya conver:wavey:

ijay mentioned the rotor blur and exhaust heat haze effect (we'll leave the glass out as this is something else). Rotor blur is notoriously difficult to be made to look convincing. I've a hangar full of helicopters.. some high-end that prove this!! Maybe he could swap one out for one off a different model. The heat haze likewise.

Right time to address a few things firstly, I like the helicopter very much and have not or am knocking it in anyway!
I bought it because I wanted an FSX native Gazelle, and that's what it is, and it's very good too.
My comment about the FDE was just stating that I don't know about it, I'm no expert, have no programming experience or experience of flying a real gazelle and am not qualified to judge how it is, it feels right to me and it's me I bought it for.
The effects are a personal choice and again do not detract from the overall product, and as I said can be removed or replaced.
Am a long time user of FSX ACCELERATION, and have all the stated requirements to use the add on, my video settings have not been changed and other aircraft display perfectly as can be seen by the numerous screen shots I have sent to this site over the years.
Had pm conversation with one of the developers who said that this issue had been reported by one other user. It's been posted that there is a different internal mdl available with amended reflections and I have requested this via support...... a sign of the customer service shown by the developers seeing as only TWO people seem to have this issue!

Again I had no intention of knocking the product of which I am very pleased, just posted my opinion and screens so others can form there own conclusions.

Have received and installed replacement interior MDL and texture BMP from developer and can confirm that VC glass is now clear, this is now my go to heli at the moment.
There have been NO changes to my video or FSX setting other than to install the above.

Again i am sorry to those people who misinterpreted any of my comments as "spoiling" or in anyway being critical of the product as i say they were personal observations and as it turns out ALL fixable as i said!

i would like to take this opportunity to thank MPDesign Studio for their help and assistance, and their outstanding customer service. I will definitely be buying any future Gazelle variations produced by them.

Sounds like a great company with great support, sometimes missing from others. They also price their product at a reasonable cost. I will be buying from them.

glad to see another FS company.

Will pick this up later in the day. Had a chance to fly in an Aerospatiale version back in 1999-2000 and she is a beast and a noisy one when starting up with no headsets on:wiggle:

ijay I wouldn't concern myself with the way you spoke about the Gazelle. Actually what you have is a passionate individual who sees anything said about the Gazelle that isn't glowing as someone who is trying to "spoil their efforts" and that wasn't the case with your original post. To be honest, if I had seen that reflection in a VC and paid money for the product, I would have wanted something done about it as well. Good that they were forthcoming with a fix and the fact that a fix surfaced so quickly tells me maybe it was something others were noticing as well.

I'll hold off a bit longer before getting this one, partly to see what other updates or improvements might be made in the next few weeks and also to see how far down the line the other versions might be.

I'm inclined to go along with DaveB, and wait for the Westland versions to be released! It does look very nice though!

Well, I was interested in adding a Gazelle to the fleet so I picked this one up. The price was right.

The install was straightforward. Exterior and interior look good. Only one texture at the moment.

I had an issue with the glass, so I sent an e-mail to the developer and got the updated mdl and glass texture files this morning.

It starts easily with Ctrl-E. I went through the manual to learn the switches, so after startup there were a few switches to throw.

Getting airborne was easy. FDE seems pretty "twitchy" to me as compared to my other helos. Not sure about the sounds, but they're okay I guess. And I noticed that the shimmering effect causes a drop in FPS in external view, especially at the 6 o'clock position. Fortunately, I fly mainly from the cockpit.

Landing in one piece is another matter. No matter how delicate I attempt to land, I'm all over the place and eventually crash. This is going to be a challenge to master unless there is a way to tone down the controls or alter the contact points for a more stable landing.

My two cents. :untroubled:

I bought, I like it. I got the VC fix promptly too. The only negative I have, is the desperate need for some other paints for it. Flys nice, love the vortex ring modeling. The vapor trail is a bit odd, but no big deal.
