i am going to build a pc that can run this thing...any suggestions?

i can't spend 1000 bucks but maybe somewhere in the 5 to 6 hundred range.

i have always been a AMD and nvidia customer but i guess i'm going to have to diverge from one or the other since AMD owns ATI now and most of the AMD mobos are desgined for ATI video cards ....

so i guess i'm saying i don't know which way to go...Intel + nvidia or AMD + ATI..?

Hi Redriver,
I have a fairly old PC with an i7 920@3.3Ghz 12Gb Ram and I recently had toreplace my 2Gb 285 GTX graphics card with a GTX 580. Since I installed the 580CoD runs superbly.

There was an articlein the last issue of PC Pilot showing how to improve performance with CoD, butsince fitting my new card (I also re installed Windows 7, CoD, and FSX etc) andthe results are many times better than they are getting without optimizing.
I hope this gives you some food for thought, as it’s obviouslythe graphics card that is the most important part for CoD.

Regards,
Ian.

hey thanks Ian..i'm running Vista 32 bit so upgrading to Win 7 would require a complete wipe of my hd...which would be a pita. i have 4 gb of ddr2 but i'm not getting the complete use of it since i have Vista 32 and i have the fastest cpu for my mobo which is AMD 64 3.2ghz quad core. the video card i have is marginal for CoD...ATI 5750 1ghz. i can run the game with most settings on medium but not over land and not with many planes in the air.

this is about a 3 year old pc so its just about time to replace it.

Red, do a dual boot on your new computer and use Windows 7 on the second HDD. No reformat needed. ;)

Go with water cooling.. H-70 is great. Seagate SATA2 1TB HDD is great as you can do a backup up to another Seagate HDD with Max Blast 5, and run that one without doing anything but installing it in a computer of your choice.
