This is Pease AFB, NH. as it was in the late '70s when it was the 509th Strategic Air Command base. Get it at Avsim ...

Cheers! Mike :jump:

I had this in FS9 and it was pretty good. Anybody got this FSX version yet?

I installed it yesterday, and it looks pretty good. The AI works great and it wasn't too harsh on the FPS. I did a test flight in the included KC-135R from Pease down to McGuire and it was OK for freeware. I haven't tried the 111 yet...

Nice project! Thanks for the effort. I have a warm spot for Pease since I'm in that area. I remember watcing the B-47's and tankers as a kid. I saw the Thunderbirds there when they were flying the F-100's. F-101's and F-89's (Maine ANG) doing passes. There was a SAC TB-25 that I still remember because of its great shine.

One FB-111 crashed in Porthsmouth on a maintennace test hop. Fortuately both guys got out OK. Those birds had the single cockpit ejection setup, as I remeber.

Nostalgia!

Thanks Again!

Yep, the F-111 had a very unique and "ahead of it's time" Capsule Ejection system where the entire cockpit was fired away from the aircraft. It even had a flotation system at the base that inflated on contact with water. Pretty innovative system.:salute:

I'm gonna download that later today Mike. Doesn't Alphasim still have an outlet for their older models like the F-111. I thought I saw a thread some time back that said that Alphasim had revived their old website for the freeware stuff.

Oh boy, am I happy with this addition to my scenery. I used to visit Pease every day of the week. when I lived in Rochester, NH. It's a nice compliment to Plum Island.
The KC-135s still fly there as well as flights of A-10s but most of it is now taken over by GA. The runways are so long the small aircarft say they burn up half a tank just getting to the end of it. They're are 12 foot thick of reinforced concrete.
Pease now also owns Rochester airport and I would like to see that airfield done for FSX. I was responsible for the Snow Removal Equptment hanger and the relocation of the ramp.
Also I'm sorely in need of a nice Lawrence, Massachusetts airport.

Ohh how I wish this was for FS9....

And Helldiver, I've almost been in your backyard the last week or so. Been doing traffic work in Portsmouth (this past Friday and Monday) and Windham NH yesterday and today...

I live about 45mins from there. i don't remember her in the 70s as i was little and my dad was stationed at NAS Jax and Cecil field. but when we moved up to Brunswick and later down to Lebanon Maine, I spent alot for time around there. I don't remember seeing the F-111s then. but that was mid 80s. and it wasn't long before she was closed. the whole area is a shell of its self now. Brunswick is going the same way. too bad realy.

Scenery looks awesome.

Just downloaded all the needed files for Pease. Steve Hess has a very interesting website. Recommend checking it out. Off to set up Pease and do some F-111 flying.
