Love it, but my poor old puter just couldn't handle it! Thanks for the heads-up!
Ted

It all looks nice, but like you, I don't know whether my 6 yr old system can handle it. I looked on their website, but could not find a listing of requirements for running this. Has such information been made available? Thanks. NC

Looks like it only affects default airports. Any 3rd party freeware or payware airports are unaffected. Looks interesting, but obviously the real test will be once folks start purchasing it and talking about it here. Right now there are questions about FPS, VAS and how it might affect various systems or if older systems would even be able to use it in a way that would show off the improvements or would they have to reduce the "eye-candy" in order to use it, which sorta defeats the reason for the purchase.

Anybody could put a small description of what this "new" product might be ?
I couldn't watch the live video stream, and I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one :)

A note about it's changing all default airports using the new textures and models. Near the end of the announcement it was asked if you can change individual airports. The answer, in a nutshell... NO! FS does not allow it for DEFAULT airports. Change one thing with this program, it applies to ALL default airports. So, unless you want to just fly out of and return to your favorite, which you apply the changes to, all the other defaults will also use these textures and models. Items/textures that will be the same include, but not limited to, hanger logos, jet way models and textures, airport vehicle models and textures, runway markings, lighting effects, and other general textures and effects. The individual airport buildings which are custom built by Microsoft in the default bgls will continue to use their default textures, however, these have all been updated/enhanced to HD. Also, these changes by the program ONLY occur within the default airport boundaries, they do not change anything outside the airport area, nor do they affect any add-on airports that do not use default buildings/textures/items.

Just for your info if you were wondering if it can do individual airports. Basically, it works like most texture enhancing programs, universal changes. What it's main purpose is, is like the other REX texture programs, gives you a choice of, and control of multiple textures in HD, as opposed to the single. low res textures in the default environment. It just pinpoints those textures in the default airports.

Beautiful textures, but i´m very concerned about the VAS unnecessary usage. We want to add a lot of eye candy and usually forget that the OOM 32bit barrier is still there. Eventually i will get this i think, but will wait for what happens.

Would be cool if such a addon for military bases would be created. Quite a challenge, however, due to all the different services and types of bases. Still...... NC

Regarding VAS and FPS, the REX guys were cold towards the question. It means you will need to adjust your FSX/P3D for the best balance of resolutions and performance. Spoken as true software guys, it's never the software that causes the problem, it's your machine. So yes, it's a wait and see. It's also going to be 6 gig in size. Hopefully for those who buy it, it will come in chunks instead of one large download. ORBX HD trees are a nice improvement, so maybe this will be just fine. What is not clear to me is what it will do to small GA airports. I don't want to see a 747 hanger suddenly appear. LOL. Release is just around the corner, not years out. ;-)
