New series on the military channel

Hi guys;
Just finished waatching a new series called " Great Planes" on the Military Channel. Tonights' featured plane was the AD2 Skyraider and its' later derivaltives as A-1. Interesting facts on the plane were given, such as it had three(3) dive flaps that extended from the body of the plane. Two on the fuselage sides and one from underneath, and that the loiter time could be up to 10 hours with the external fuel tanks of 150 gallons each with 350 carried internally in a rubber bladder behind the pilot.
If you can watch it, some editing I found was a little choppy but overall it was nice.

spads

I once had the occasion to share some compartment seating with a Spad pilot on a trip from Piza to Naples in Italy. The year was appox. 1966 and I was a young guppy. I got to talking to him over the one gallon of Chianti that I had bought for the trip. Amazed me that a LtCmdr would drink with a E-4. I mentioned that I had some S.F. friends ( now gone, RIP my friends)that were in-country (SNam) that some Spads had helped extract from some serious stuff on several occasions and was passing along a "Thank You" from them to him and his ilk.
He really took it to heart and we had some a long conversation about "going North". Some really scarey stuff thay did. One line was that he saw SNam "low and slow". Several years later I heard the same line in a movie!:icon_lol:
These guys had some set of cajones!:medals:
