Hi...I'm new to the forum and this site. Just thought that maybe I should explain my avatar. While I'm a retired aerospace engineer, I'm also a herpetologist. As well...I'm kind of a "buff" of WWII aircraft therefore, I thought that the King Cobra would be a good avatar for here. Not only is it the world's largest venomous snake (18 feet) but it's a rather interesting Bell Fighter (P-63) that never saw its full potential because the engine for which it was designed (Packard-built Rolls Merlin V-1650) had its full production allocated for P-51s. It's an aircraft that not many people are familiar with.

Welcome to the Outhouse!....Hang around, ya gonna like this place...:ernae:

Welcome and thanks for the info. Personally, I'd love a detailed Cobra, or even a P-39 Airacobra for FSX, always loved those little fighters.

make yourself at home!! :ernae:

Welcome to SOH, grab a cold one and pull up a chair and shoot da bull with the rest of us wack-o's . We have one direct order here:" you must have fun in here":monkies:

Welcome to the best FS forums anywhere period (.:kilroy:), and our home. :wavey::applause::icon29: If you seek info, advice, help, or just like being family, this is the place.

Yep, you'll get along fine here, Welcome! Always loved the unique entrance door to the cockpit on this bird, cool! :ernae:

Hello gvaldeg1, you'll love this place.

That P-63 is one bizarre looking aircraft if you've never seen it before (like me). In that picture it looks as though it's in FSX and having corruption issues. Tail of a B-17, upside down Hurricane nose, P-51 wings, experimental jet fighter canopy and the air scoop somehow ended up on top:icon_lol:. At least that's what I see in that photo. I'll check it out more online as it's rather interesting looking.

Welcome Gvaldeg1, and ditto what's already been said. :wavey: This little out of the way spot is the most fun you can have and still stay awake. ;) :guinness: :ernae: :icon29: We like beer. :bump:

Welcome!:ernae: Glad to see a bonafide herpetologist here. I seriously considered that as a career many years ago. I love reptiles almost as much as aviation.

The P-63 is a great aircraft. I modeled the P-63 for Oleg in IL2/Pacific Fighters and fly it all the time. The aircraft in your pic is based out of Palm Springs Cali, and I used it as a referance in my P-63. Youll find many area's in the texture from photo's I took of that aircraft.

A lot of people look down on the Allison engine mainly due to the P-40, but overall it was a remarkable engine. It really shined down low, but even the P-38, using two Allisons, was one of the top fighters of WWII. The P-39 and later P-63 also were put to good use in Russia were they achieved great kill/loss ratio's. The Allison in the P-63 was every bit as good as a Merlin.

No kiddin' Gibbage... IL-2's P-63 is one of my high-time planes in that sim. Too bad that Oleg guy is such a tightwad over modding:173go1:
Did make one for CFS2, should make one for FSX.....
