New Winter Textures

Has anyone tried the new winter textures (worldwide coverage) by amie leclercq over at AVSIM?
They are big files.

Can anyone tell me if they will replace/overlay the scenery provided by GEX USA?

There's Fall also!

Since these are system-wide textures only one can display and it's effect is global*. So I would seriously recommend backing up whatever files you had in the \Scenery\World\texture folder before installing.

*disclaimer: It's possible to have more than one global file within FSX, if it's done on a localized basis. But that's another story.

That was just posted by Nick N.:

""Any offering that replaces ground textures in Scenery\World\Texture will damage GEX ""

""Any offering that replaces ground textures in Scenery\World\Texture will damage GEX ""

I could translate this into a more appropriate response, but I'll leave it be.

As recommended before, making a backup of the \Scenery\World\texture folder should help prevent any "damage". :icon_lol:

Thanks for the heads-up.

Any idea regarding how well these textures will work with the OrbX/FTX packs?

thanks,

dl

Hi delta_lima,

inside the ORBX regions you won't see any textures placed in Scenery\World\texture because the ORBX textures within our own directories retain display priority. Outside those regions you'd see them. In other words, installing replacements in Scenery\World\texture won't "damage" any ORBX files though it's always a good idea to set FTX Central to "Default FSX" while installing third-party textures or landscape add-ons of any kind.

Cheers, Holger
