i just recently got into CFS3, after a long time trying to find it. I installed this mega pack of Aircraft, Missions, Effects and all sorts of stuff, which is awesome. But in getting all these new aircraft, there all sort placed in the British nationallity folder in the game.

My question is how do you change the displayed nationality of an aircraft. I know you can do it cause this pack I installed tells me a way to do it, but that way seems not to work.:kilroy:

Appreciate the feedback.:applause:

Get the NEK download here at SOH perhaps in the Other section and this will end those problems, also you can open the XDP in the aircraft folder and in line 1 is the nationallity for the aircraft scroll to the "country" and you can change the country as you need it.. Remember to delete the BDP...Enjoy:applause:

Now see, thats what i did. I've got the NEK download thingy and i did what it said, then deleted the BDP file, what ever that is. Then it said that the next time I opened CFS3 that the nationality would have changed. Needless to say that didn't work.

Okay, you have to delete the unlimitedpilots file in the "application data folder" it would not hurt to delete the visel file also located in the Apps data folder, also check your Country flle in the Main CFS3 folder to see if it added the new set up for the NEK addon if not reload the Nek program i hope this helps

Some old aircraft were designed before NEK was available and have been set to one of the stock nationalities. You have to edit the aircraft .XDP file located in each aircraft folder, and change the nationality entry to the desired one. The nationality name is documented in the NEK help.

For instance for the d_520 from JM Mermaz :

Edit aircraft\d_520\d520.xdp with notepad:

<?xml version="1.0"?>
<UnitData>
<General Allegience="1" LongName="DeWoitine D.520" ShortName="D.520" ModelName="D520.m3d" BlastDamageScale="1.0" ImpactDamageScale="1.0" FireDamageScale="1.0" Priority="2" Type="moving" EnteredService="11/03/1943" LeftService="12/1/1957" BlastDamageMod="1" ImpactDamageMod="1" FireDamageMod="1" Category="fighter_bomber" Country="britain" AllowSpawn="N" InfoURL="help\topics\infod_520.htm" ChecklistURL="help\topics\infod_520.htm"/>

changes to

<?xml version="1.0"?>
<UnitData>
<General Allegience="1" LongName="DeWoitine D.520" ShortName="D.520" ModelName="D520.m3d" BlastDamageScale="1.0" ImpactDamageScale="1.0" FireDamageScale="1.0" Priority="2" Type="moving" EnteredService="11/03/1943" LeftService="12/1/1957" BlastDamageMod="1" ImpactDamageMod="1" FireDamageMod="1" Category="fighter_bomber" Country="France_Free" AllowSpawn="N" InfoURL="help\topics\infod_520.htm" ChecklistURL="help\topics\infod_520.htm"/>

Hope it helps !

Sorry to double post ... also some aircraft are designed for specific add-on (MAW, Korea, ETO, PTO ...) that have specific nationalities. You have to check your add-on aircraft nationalities and make sure they are contained in your NEK version. For instance, PTO account for both japanese AF and navy aircraft, while IIRC NEK only have Japan. If you download a PTO japanese aircraft, you have to edit the nationalaity to simply Japan.

Even better, you could install separate game folders for MAW, PTO, ETO ...

I can't seem to download the file, cfs3redux1nek.zip.:kilroy:

P.S. Where else can I get it, can't find it anywere?

You could modify the planes xdp. file inside the aircraft folder. You need to know what you are doing though, because you might screw up your plane. What planes are in question?

It's more than one aircraft, read my original post. I want to do this the way that 'noelberrier' says to do it, I just need cfs3redux1nek.zip.

Great, which one below that is the Main File, not quit sure. Thanks though.
