McChord Air Base

Thanks for the heads up!

Having flown in and out of McChord AFB more times than I can count, I can say that the author has done a bang up job on this one. Almost everything is there other than the new air park museum and the new transit facility and new BX. It is definately a must have add on if you fly military aircraft in the Northwest USA. McChord is the USAF gateway to the Orient for many troopers departing Fort Lewis for points west.

I just have to figure out how to get my Calclassics AI back into the field. Apparently the old traffic file only recognizes a few of the rapmp spots.

Over the years, the 62nd has flown several types of transport aircraft. The C-124, C-47, C-130, C-141 and now the C-17 have all graced the tarmac there.

Before its dissoulution, the 318th Fighter Inteceptor Squadron flew several types of interceptors out of McChord.

The base has a nice little museum too. Here is a link to their web site:

By the way, McChord AFB and the adjacent Fort Lewis are now called Joint Base Lewis-McChord.
