NEWS FLASH!! ANOTHER BEAUTY FROM JENS KRISTENSEN: THE ARMSTRONG-WHITWORTH ENSIGN

Hello folks, Our favorite designer Mr. Kristensen did it again. A beautiful Ensign, 4-engined transport from the 1930s, with full VC this time.

Get it from Simviation's FS9-Vintage aircraft page.

Thank you so much Jens.

FS2004 Armstrong Whitworth Ensign. This is an all-new model of the AW.27 Ensign, a large medium-range airliner built for Imperial Airways (later BOAC) in the late 1930's. Because of the outbreak of WW2, only 12 Ensigns were built, and they mostly served as transports in support of the RAF. The package contains the MK.I and the MK.II in three different colour schemes. For FS2004 only. FSX users should get Ensign_V10X.zip instead. By Jens B. Kristensen.

LOL.. it's only been out 7 hours and already there are requests for tweaks/changes

:kilroy:

Jens, Thanks once again for a terrific 'new' addition to the hangar :jump:

I tried it out this morning :jump:

It's a keeper .... Thanks Jens :applause:

Just out of curiosity, is there any way to speed up the gear retraction ?

Sid ... I'm looking forward to adding that hangar to the colection :jump:

Pete.

I tried using a couple of paints from the earlier Ensign, but couldn't get them to work. I guess the VC isn't the only upgrade. Pete is right about being a keeper. I don't know how Jens' earlier Ensign got move way in the back of the hangar, but the new one is out on the ramp.

Who thought it a good idea to put a pax door right next to the #3 prop disk?!? :isadizzy: (Post #5, 2nd pic)

I guess that is why air travel is so mundane today... they've engineered all the thrill out of it. :)

Hi,

Just out of curiosity, is there any way to speed up the gear retraction ?
Easy task .. just play with the number in bold (the point 0 is the noze wheel and points 1 and 2 are main wheels) :)

Note :
50 is extension time and 75 is retraction time

Thanks claudius :applause:

Ya learn something new each day.

I've speeded up the gear sequence .... 20 seconds each way ..... still looks good. :jump:

Pete.

Since the tail wheel appears to be fixed, those bold eights on the first contact point would need to be set to zero's according to the Container SDK.

Hi,

Since the tail wheel appears to be fixed, those bold eights on the first contact point would need to be set to zero's according to the Container SDK.
Academic point of view .. you right :)
On the other hand .. as it appears it's no animation provided in the model for the tail wheel (nor retract or extend) the numbers can be anything from zero to infinite ... they are useless. IMHO

I am downloading the plane now...will take a look at tweaking the engine texturing. Will also look into the engines used on the Ensign and see what I have to work with in terms of a sound pack.
