Nice new Florida base from Emerald Scenery Design: Bald Eagle Airfield - Myakka Head

So I went down a YouTube rabbit hole a few weeks ago when Parallel 42 announced they were working on the Super Patriot Mark II, which somehow led to videos by race car guy "Cleetus McFarland," who also does aviation stuff and just bought an airport... The video in question:

Then I discovered that Emerald Scenery design (our own @christopherbritton) was working on this scenery for MSFS. Followed his design thread and I've been watching for it, and it released today. I have quite a few of his sceneries, which are often detail-packed tiny fields great for STOL. In this case, it's a larger field (as seen in the video, you can fly a P-51 in and out) in Florida. And it's only $6.99. So I snagged it as my new home base in the land of humidity, gators, NASA, and scary politics.

The detail is awesome. Basking gator, opening hangar with an accurate analog clock on the wall, really nice work on the foliage surrounding the airport, awesome audio effects at different times of day, etc. Well worth picking up if you'd like a small-to-medium base in Florida.

Don't get too close...

There's also a second farm strip next door

Not one of those crazy detailed mega-international-airports with functional accurately modeled bathroom urinals in the terminal, but a lovingly crafted grass field with tons of details at a nice price!

It's available on Marketplace, or direct from Emerald Scenery Design.

The nose looks like a croc which they have in the very southern tip of Florida. Either one don't get too close. Unless the air temp is in the low 40's or 50's. Then if you see them on land like that they are just trying to keep warm in the sun and don't care who you are. They aren't moving for anything.

I got a few nice closeup snap shots of a 10' Alligator one day. Nice sunny day and rather cool.

Nice looking scenery.

Part of my job is taking care of and rescuing gators from stupid humans on occasion. That nose does look a little bit like a croc. :)

Saw one of the CMcF YouTubes when he was first on his new airfield & during the 'tour' he mentioned the power lines across the approach & that he hoped to get the utility company to run them underground.
Looks to be a nicely executed airfield, full of character & at a bargain price.

Admin - My understanding is that politics are "out of bounds" here. A guy from Seattle (the land of mental institution politics) calling FL "scary politics" is not something we need here. Too bad the remainder of his post is quite good.

OK... To borrow a term from NFL rules, I'm calling this a case of "offsetting penalties." In today's world, all politics is both scary and insane at the same time. Consider this my "wet nomex blanket." The rest of this thread will be about the scenery and what flies in and out of it, or I pull the lever on the hangar-filling foam canons.

Thanks for the shout-out @DennyA! I know I'm really not active here, but I do lurk from time to time. Today is a good example of that... lol

It's surprisingly difficult to find an Alligator model (At least one that's game-ready). Lots of Crocks though! I ended up finding this static one labeled as an Alligator. Rigged and Animated it myself. It was the closest one I could find at a low poly count! Maybe it's a bit of a hybrid? haha

I'll let those more versed in identification than me be the judge!

Your gator is perfectly fine by me. I wouldn't change a thing. :)
