Night Fighting

Hello all,

I've been so caught up flying daytime missions in ETO. When it gets dark it seems thats when the fun begins. Instead of me trying to fly back in time for supper, i wanna know how to properly use the Night fighters i have sitting all over my field.

I regularly use the Heinkel 111's from reg's for most of my bombing missions. There are some night missions where I cant see the target or night fighters and I end up getting slaughtered.

I like flying the 111 in daytime missions, but the Dornier J's just seem to sit idle in my hangers because this flier doesnt know how to pick off tommie in the pitch black.
Is there any information available on night flying tactics? Wikipedia doesnt seem to have much to go on (at least for me).

I like dropping those Hermannn bombs, but i wanna bone up on my night fighter kills now. Any leads?

depends

It depends on the role you are playing. If you are bombing targets then it is one approach, attacking is altogether different. Books that cover these topics in depth are:

History of the German Night Fighter Force by Gebhard Aders
The other Battle by Peter Hinchhliffe
Battles with the Nachtjagd by EW Boiten and MW Bowman
Nachtjagd The night fighter versus Bomber War over the Third Reich by Boiten

These will help.

Hi, I'm back from hollidays in Spain (Bolbao).

In the mission pack I'm building regarding the Atlantic Wall, there will be several night missions.
I'll start to work this week-end on a pathfinder mission, player will be the Master bomber. I'll see what I can do as I have some new ideas but I don't know if it will work. If everything goes well, it will be a brand new concept that will bring a lot of immersion as player will have to guide bomber waves during the whole mission. In the middle of heavy flak, he will see fire getting bigger ang bigger on ground.
Hope this will work as planned.
