Westfront....

without sounding like a ignoramus but will will these work with the textures by UT and others ? I'm thinking of the D.O.A campaign in particular as some of those missions are in N. Aus.

Hi Fiber,

That's a good question and if UT and others are using the default textures, or a mixture thereof, they'll work just fine. Hopefully UT can confirm this.

Oh, and a new D.O.A campaign would be awesome! Anything I can do to help please don't hesitate to ask.

Cheers

Just added these textures to my CBI install, and flew a couple of missions in Rami's Raid on Darwin mission pack, Darwin looks excellent!

Fibber,

There are some differences, but as my SWPTO sceneries have complete Landclass bgls, just copying the relevant textures into your SWPTO_Islands/Texture folder before you copy the Aus Terrain bitmaps into your main CFS2/Texture folder will ensure the look of the SWPTO islands is maintained.

IN the SWPTO_Islands/Texture folder there is a txt file noting the landclass textures I used. Just copy these over & you're done.

A more elegant solution would be a landclass bgl for the Aus Terrain texture set, that way it could be placed into the scenery hierarchy & activated/deactivated as you want (like Rhumbas CFS2_Tropical_Landclass set up).

As an experiment I activated Dick "rhumbaflappy" Ludowise's "Y" Region for northern Australia and placed Aussie's textures therein. Unfortunately there is not enough land class variation in Dick's files. Looking at Darwin, the land class utilises only a single texture for the entire area, making the terrain unrealistic in appearance. Definitely stick to the stock land class for northern Australia.

I placed these new textures into my CBI install scenerydb/world/textures file only. As I said, Darwin area looked excellent. I also thought this greatly improved the look in Burma and South China area. Not sure if they are realistic for those areas, but they are a huge improvement visually.

Aussie has added a second set of textures to this package. They have a reddish tinge which you may prefer for the Northern Territory and the north of Western Australia.

Enjoy!
