I remember the first time I fired up the CFS2 and the intro music and the screens began to play. It was really exciting, and I felt like there was something about this sim I was going to really enjoy.
The mission builder tools were amazing and wow was it interesting to put the missions together. I spent months just tweaking missions, and flying around behind airgroups watching and enjoying the action. I actually immersed myself in WW2 air combat history. I must have bought every WW2 air combat book and video I could find. I still have a bunch of boxes of the stuff I bought. Somehow, I can't bring myself to ebay it.
I remember working with the MB to duplicate the great battles in missons. I downloaded every mission that had some full real kind of scenario from actual air combat I could find.
There are just so many good memories associated with the CFS2.
Yeah, I know I'm a melancholy slob.
Sure would be a most excelllent news if MSFT would cut loose the CFS2 code to open-source and let this community turn this great old game into a state of the art Madonna.
I've often wondered if there were any members of these boards that had a way to get Bill Gate's ear on releasing the code. I can't imagine why he could care less about this sim, especially since the Ace studio is gone.
I think it is worth repeating, but all the third party devs are on my great folks list. They have done so much for all of us to enjoy CFS2.
Thanks, to a great community and developers for all the years of evening interludes into the world of arm chair air combat.
