Notice...Sander's files

To all,

For those interested in the ETO, Sander's scenery files have been uploaded to SOH in the customary four packages. Sander was supportive of this project, and care has been taken to keep him informed of the situation, including placing the files under his name.

These files are meant to be for private use only, please do not violate the explicit conditions in the permission file.

The reason for this upload, other than making sure they are saved for posterity, is that I am finding it increasingly difficult to find the time required to package and send the files to members on a per-request basis. A link to my install guide for the files is also included.

Please feel free to use this thread for any installation questions you may have, if necessary. :jump:

Thanks,

A great and much needed addiction. Thanks to Sander and to you, Rami!!!!! :icon29::icon29::icon29:

Thanks

Thank you Sander for making this files that give life to the ETO terrain, and thank you both for making them available to the new ones, and to guarantee its preservation.

RAMI

Rami;
Just thought that I would ask. These 4 zips condense all of Sanders zips to these 4? Don't want to get rid of that whole shebang if I will need them.

BTW; No offense here but your avatar makes you look like a deer caught in headlights!

Rami,
From your guide,
"Now, Sander has divided his roads, lakes, and rivers into many small packages. In order to get to them all, you’ll need to download them individually, looking for a map of Europe that is divided into little squares. Here is the page:

Location:http://combatfs.homeip.net/cfs2coast/default.aspx#CFS2%20Eurw%20Area%20VTP/LWM%20Scenery"

Unfortunately the combatfs link is dead, but as Fibber asked does the newly uploaded Sdc Eurw file replicate the above dead link files?

Cheers Shessi

Rami,
Thanks for the confirmation on that.

Following your installation guide, I have installed everything and activated as per instructions, but I can only get the land texs to show up by putting them back into the scenedb/world/texture (from the texture folder in cfs2_eurw_LC_su_BETA4 as instructed). I have deleted the filelist.dat files, but still only get texs when back in world/texture file, any ideas?

Shessi,

It sounds like you may have skipped a step. Did you make sure to copy the textures from the cfs2_eurw_LC_su_BETA4 folder to your root (main) texture folder in CFS2 before pulling out the textures from the scenedb\world\texture folder? If not, that may be causing your issue there.

If you still can't get it to work, then you can leave the textures in. Some people have to do that...though I can't imagine why...

Hi Rami,
Unfortunately it does not mentioned that procedure in your How-To, all it has is:-

"Now, this is very important…the texture files from your SCENEDB\WORLD\TEXTURE folder must be moved to the cfs2_eurw_LC_su_BETA4 folder, leaving you with nothing in your SCENEDB\WORLD\TEXTURE folder."

(a picture) then,

"Now, before you scream “THAT’S IT???”….this is mostly textures. The .bgl file just tells where to “paint” the textures on the landscape.

This folder, named “cfs2_eurw_LC_su_BETA4” gets put into your SCENEDB folder in your CFS2 installation, and gets installed by the now-familiar method described in the above pages.

So now, your scenery.cfg file should look like this:"

I'm not criticising, just mentioning it.

I've now got it up and running and it does look good, so many thanks for the time and effort.

Cheers Shessi

Shessi,

Oops. It would appear there's an omission there! I'll have to fix that...

:salute:This is outstanding work that has transformed the cfs2 experience in Europe, to all those involved - a big thank you.

Thanks

Thanks to you and Sander. Please pass on to Sander thanks and gratitude (I know you already have) and may the wind be always at his back. :salute::guinness:
