• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

one bug is driving me nuts
when a person replies to a thread it always goes to the top, I have spent hours going over this and it boils down to a vbulliten problem that needs to be fixed

Doesn't that have to do with how the user has configured his display of the thread order? Most forums I visit I've set the thread order to display those with the latest posts first, i.e., threads are sorted/displayed so those with the latest replies are always at the top...

For example, here I've set thread display to:

<SELECT id=sel_threadedmode tabIndex=1 name=threadedmode> <OPTION value=0>Linear - Oldest First</OPTION> <OPTION selected value=3>Linear - Newest First</OPTION> <OPTION value=1>Threaded</OPTION> <OPTION value=2>Hybrid</OPTION></SELECT>
Here you can choose the display mode for threads. For a full explanation of the modes, please view this help page

Yeah.....

I made a mistake on mine...

I choose Ascending instead of Descending....

I fixed mine.... :jump:

when you make that change it makes the last post first, that buggs me even worse, when i read a book its from the top down:isadizzy:

no its a bug in these forum software

Okay... We may be referring to different things then...

In any case, the "Mark All Forums Read" is certainly working... I clicked on it rather that the "Mark This Forum Read" button... Oops! :pop4:

when i reply to this thread
after i submit
it goes to the 1st post
not the one i have just posted
thats not in the configuration at all
H

dunno if this helps or not but i selected liner mode in the thread display and all the posts are in order. :)

That's what I use, too......and no problems at all.

Thread Display Mode
<SELECT id=sel_threadedmode tabIndex=1 name=threadedmode> <OPTION selected value=0>Linear - Oldest First</OPTION> <OPTION value=3>Linear - Newest First</OPTION> <OPTION value=1>Threaded</OPTION> <OPTION value=2>Hybrid</OPTION></SELECT>

When you click the Mark This Forum Read option, nothing happens visually, but if you refresh the page or go back up one level, you'll see that it actually worked.

I find that I get a lot of extra space added between my post and signature. Don't know if it wastes anything? It does make the threads longer to scroll through, however.

Yep that's true. However, I've gotten use to the text style, color, font, etc all changing in the forums while there to indicate that the process took place.

Oddly enough the settings seem to be working in the cantina ... so if maybe Ickie or someone can cross reference settings between the cantina and the other forums they might find the "bug". :)

:wavey:

It also works in the "Round the World Race" forums, and the "CFS2 Forums" on this site as well

i cannot fix vbulliten bugs because when they fix them in an update it or my fix may mess things up

I don't doubt that at all Ickie ... but maybe "bug" is the wrong terminology for this ... LOL! Maybe forum setting would be better?

As I've noticed some of the forums still work the old way and some don't. :)

Keep up the good work Boss. ;)
