now i feel better about humanity

Everyone thought it was going to fail. Look at it now, lol.. Gaining momentum...

When Star Wars came out, it was almost dead. Then everyone started talking about it. It held our famous Cine Capri theater as number one for over a year and it was always filled. But when it first came out, they said it was just a space movie.

So, how tall are these aliens? I havent seen the movie yet. I need to go I guess.. lol.

Wooohooo I won another argument :)
well sort of.... its unfair to compare all those movies with avtar as it is to say that avtar is the top movie of all time just on the $$ taken in. In the days of Gone with the wind a movie would run 2 to 3 years and have successful re releases every 5 10 15 years after its glory days. nowadays after a 6th mth run its onto dvd or blu ray and its basically dead for a box office run.
Those figures in the link posted prob need to be uped by 10 to 20%
Before computer ticketing, ticket 1/2 resell was all the rage in the smaller cinema chains it got so bad that the distributors had payed head counters running around all over town counting heads :D

An interesting point Wozza. I wonder if DVD's are the future of the movie industry. Even iTunes...

Hey Bill
Dont know the biggest hurdle as far as the cinema owners are concerned is who pays for obsolescence. If they buy a 35mm plant then your good for 20,50 years, all the new tech in 35mm is additional in that you buy the addition and install them on the existing equipment. With digital equipment it can be only 1 or 2 years before your entire plant is obsolete. Can the cinema survive.... yes, there is one thing that home theater cant duplicate and thats the experience of a large group of ppl enjoying a film, funny films are funnier, scary films scarier when there is a large group sharing the experience.

finally some real perspective on things. I hate the way the media does "top movie" these days. Every year some new movie "tops" the previous year...well, no DUH! Cuz movie tickets go up each year...so even if the same amount of people watched the movie from year 1 to year 2, year 2 will make more money.

It's like saying i'm a multi-millionair compared to the same guy living in the 1930s...simply cuz back then a good lunch+coffe costs you 5 cents or something to that degree...

lolol.. I never looked at it that way.

Where have you been?? Working on another movie?

i;m still here...just reading more these days then typing. But yeah, working on some stuff....which again, is retarded since i can't talk about them... :p

also been playing a ton of other games...i've been playing a lot of X3 Reunion (decided to start w/ this one and then move on to TC). It's one deep game....i've "restarted" it a bunch of times...cuz too many ways to play it... making money by shooting ships is not a good way to make a living i found....trading and building stations seems to be the most cash-rewarding way...
