Now that was cool...

I was flying in my trusty Camel against an Alb DII. After I put a few bursts into him, he tried to land at a British aerodrome, bounced once and rolled into the open door of a hangar, which promptly exploded in a nice fireball. At least he went out swinging!

That's better than the time in Aces over Europe I got sent to bomb a train. It was passing under a bridge so I bombed the bridge to see what happens. The bridge fell and destroyed most of the train.

Ah, Aces over Europe and SWoTL. Happy days. :)

Hey, Queeg
A Camel vs an Albatros D II? They would have hardly ever met, I'd think.
The D II came 1916, followed by the D III (early 1917, I think).
The Camel - as far as I know - came late summer 1917 ?

Hey, Siggi - "Aces over Europe" kept me for hours away from my work, I should have done (self employed) - had to catch up with all late in the evenings. But couldn't resist (Lol!)

In QC - where anything is possible. FPS tweaking, while waiting on TrackIR to arrive.

Yes..BoB and SWoTL!..that brings back memories.

As does

Strike Commander
Wolf 3D
Wing Commander
The 'original Red Baron

And my favourite classic 'Pacific Air War'

great days:ernae:

"Pacific Air War" - yes, WIDOWMAKER, absolutely grand! Could even be flown in multiplayer mode. Made my first dogfight against my business partner on it, and still remember this well!
He flew a Lightning, and I had a "Frank". He didn't seem to stand a chance, as he wouldn't fly hit-and-run tactics. So, I hit him quite hard several times, and the right engine produced black smoke already.
But a Lightning isn't so easy to down, very flat from the rear, difficult to hit, and TWO engines.
He remembered this one trick though - he pulled up and pulled throttle full back. I flew into the thick black smoke - couldn't see anything for a sec. When I got a sight again, he wasn't there. Instead, I was shot to pieces by a cannon and three machine guns, center nicely in the nose of his plane.

He would never want to fly against me again - wanted to keep it like him being the victor.

Haha..great stuff!...It was also the first Flightsim with dogfighting that had a Replay facility! (the only reason I ever play IL2)

If only M$ had coded a replay into the CFS franchise!..Imagine OFF with that feature!!

Wing Commander, now that was back when they tried to make more than a pretty game......I was never a big scifi guy , but those games drew me in. That would be cool to bring them back....
