I'm back!

Here some pic's from the days I've passed among manatees in the shadow of an Old Dutch fort on the Northeastern coast of Brazil. Those places are not far from the former american WWII bases. That B-17 was used for sea rescue up to the mid 50's.
Excellent 2009 for everyone full of new challenges and successful flights!!:applause:

Nice pictures Nonato. I wish one of this days I will have a change to visit Brazil; at least to the Formula 1 GP. Go Felipe (maybe next season)

Is that Maurits' fort, the Dutch king of Brasil???? All I know he was the first (and only?) Dutch governor in Brasil, after kicking out the Portugese.
There's a museum in Den Haag named after him, het Mauritshuis, I will try to build it as Dutch landmark for Dutch addon.

Those were supposed to be the good old days, sailing to Western Africa with shining things, overloading your ship with slaves and sailing them to Brasil or the Caribean Islands, sell those slaves and load your ship with sugar, coffee etc and sell that in the Republic for an awful lot of money. Those were the days the Dutch fought wars for (blood)money......now other countries do that and we're happy to contribute some F-16 or frigates....we do not start those wars anymore :)

This is called Fort Orange (in honour to the Dutch Royal House) built in 1630 when the West Indian Co armies arrived. Portugal was dependent from Spain at that time and automatically Brazil, as a portuguese colony, became a target.
The Town you see in that picture is Recife (bottom), not founded but governed by the Dutch for almost 3 decades, back in the XVII century. Johann Mauritius Nassau Siegen, indeed a native from Hessen, was the third and the best of all Dutch governors of that province. Under him the city experienced a great social and economical development. His only flaw: not so many royalties were sent to his employers. He was replaced and soon after the Dutchs expelled by the joint forces of brazilian settlers, indians and portuguese armies.

When I retire I'd like to buy a house nearby this Fort which I'm very fond of.

Cheers
