Have just got back from a few days spent travelling around BoB related sites in Kent.

Managed to get to the BoB memorial: http://www.battleofbritainmemorial.org/the-memorial/

and the BoB museum at Hawkinge: http://www.kbobm.org/

Both these places are absoutely excellent and a fine tribute to the few.

The weather was a bit iffy so forgive the quality of these pics!

I now have plenty of inspiration for some new BoB install features. Shall definately be going back again!!

Cat and Custard pot (formerly The Red Lion) near hawkinge. Once a haunt of the airfield personnel. bags of atmosphere, loads to look at, decent ale and a very lovely barmaid! ;)

Excellent, it gives more sense and involvment to our mission over the channel.
On the other side, ther are plenty of websites/photos about V1/V2 launch sites.
 
Very inetersting pictures, I made the same trip myself, hadn't seen the Acoustic ears before though, might include that in a next trip.
Did you visit Dover Castle, and the Secret Wartime Tunnel Tour in the white cliffs?

Chris, you must go! I'm already planning a return trip, there is just soooo much to see and do there.
...and places like Kenley and Biggin Hill are only just up the road. Mrs Pattle is going to love it ! :icon_lol:

Yep, the tunnels are amazing, walked round open mouthed most of the time! The RAF plotting room was especially interesting.

Also got in a trip on the Romney Hythe & Dynchurch railway, but I'm not an anorak ;) This engine is called 'Hurricane' (not after the a/c though)

Thank You so much for the pictures. As an American, it's great to see these types of pictures since most of us have "roots" back there or elsewhere in Europe. My late grandmother was British, my step-grandfather still lives there, and my aunt (her daughter) lives in Germany. I visited them in Germany, and travelled to Switzerland, and Austria also, many years ago.

I haven't had the pleasure to make it out to the U.K. yet. I'd sure love to though.

Parts of the castle are something to do with some French man called Norman (or something) who came here many years ago on the ferry to Hastings and ended up staying.......but we don't like to talk about it !:173go1:
