OBIO,

Yep...that's my home strip...KMFD. Wow, to think that that B-17 was just a few miles from my house (3 miles due East of the end of runway 32..well, actually, 90.1 degrees...close enough to due East).

Figure you know the locatioin of this.... I have a video of buzzing that airfield... I will try to upload to youtube tonight so you can see it....

NM OBIO, that video i was thinking I took with my digital camera, but I took it with my video camera.... crap... anyway.. I got a nice bumpy view right down the flightline of C-130's and the last C-130 on the ramp had a paint scheme to recognize a fighter group from WWII... I think the same as Yeager's????? It had the checkerboard engine nacelles and invasion stripes.. You ever sene it?

That paint job was to celebrate the formation of the 179th Air Lift Wing..65th anniversary or something like that. It was only painted like that for one year...2008 I think. It had the checkerboard nacelles, D-Day stripes and the WW2 style USA insignia. I had some pics of it...lost in my recent HD glitch...and was working on painting up the Alphasim C-130E in that scheme (the 179th uses the H model...but the E is close enough). Will have to dig around on the net again and find those pics...very interesting aircraft. I wish I could have seen it in person....

Hah...here's the scoop on the 179th and the special paint job: In commemoration of the wings original designation: 363rd Fighter Squadron.
