OFF No CD

I'm wondering if it is possible to play OFF without having to insert CFS3 disk 2 (no CD patch). I did quick seach and didn't find an answer to my question in any of the posts. I have the No Cd patch installed for CFS3 and it works fine when playing CFS3, but it doesn't seem to work for OFF. I hate having to insert disks every time I play a game.

Disregard a quick search of the internet resolved my question.

PS. I do have a legal copy of CFS3 installed and I do have the orginal disks, I just hate having to install them ever time I want to play a game.

Don't worry, P3 will help this. M$ has deemed the no-cd patch acceptable apparently... so it's not as bad ju-ju as it used to be.

I've just installed OFF phase 2, when I select go to hangar I get the message unable to find CD, insert the CD and restart, I insert the genuine CFS3 DVD but the error message is always the same. Do you have any suggestion ?

Thank You
Giorgio

Giorgio, what is the language of your cfs3 disks? if it's english, I don't think I can help you but if it's not, I may have a solution...

Hello,
i think i read that for "Over Flanders Fields" "Between Heaven and Hell" phase 3 (did i write this completely OMG :d) you will need the MS CFS3 CDs or DVD (no need to fully write that) for the initial installation, but you will not have to insert it again if you want to play Phase 3. Can someone from the OFF team confirm that ?
Thanks and greetings,
Catfish

It's my understanding that you will need CFS3 only when you initially install OFF Phase 3. After that it'll not be required.

This is great news. Thanks for the confirmation. :jump:

There will be no discussion of the no cd patch at sim outhouse...c'mon you guys, you know better. But, it's staying open because of the P3 explanation.

request for CD at "go to hangar"

I've installed CFS3 using an original multi language DVD, the installation language is Italian. The proposed path at CFS3 installation was c:\programmi\microsoft games\combat flight simulator 3. Since the ETO, MAW and OFF consider as standard directory the c:\program files\microsoft games\combat flight simulator 3, I've changed the installation directory to this one.
I've installed ETO and MAW also and they work properly.
Thank to ToBeOrNot for giving your suggestion

Er lets clear this up re Phase 3:

1) If you need a CD to play CFS3 you need it to play OFF.

2) If you have a NEW UBI "Exclusive" CFS3 DVD you do not need the DVD inserted to play that's how they have released it, so OFF will not need it when you go to play.

In this case you will need the DVD once to to install then not after to play.

I got Stupid cd version..... After playing OFF, you forget what a lousy Sim it is when just installed vanilla

Soooo, this is not accurate?

Microsoft/Bungie recently allowed a patch for the original Halo: Combat Evolved for PC to no longer require the CD to be in the drive in order to play it. It seems that for them to allow a "no CD" patch for an immensely popular game like that, it would be even easier to allow it for a much less popular and almost as old sim like CFS3. One can hope.

I have CD version too and i bought it (new!-foil-wrapped) at an gameshop (just due to OFF3) two weeks ago. I didn´t know that exists new DVD version...:banghead:

Regardless; unitl and unless it changes Sim Outhouse has a policy of not endorsing the no cd patch for any MS product and ubnless Ickie says it's OK , don't discuss it in the public forums....discuss it in PM's
