OFF Phase II Airfield bug

Hey all,

Been playing Phase II for ages and finally got to December 1917 with the No.56 squadron flying SE5's and have found a rather serious bug with the airfield the squadron is stationed at.

The airfield is called Lavieville and it basically has a glitch where it is merged with another airfield and has a line of trees just a few feet from the aircraft spawning point. All aircraft including the player cannot avoid hitting the trees, and all explode a few seconds after starting their engines and rolling.

I realize this may be too late for the dev team to fix this bug for P3 if they already havn't, so I was wondering if anyone can think of a way to fix this issue? For example, can the No.56 squadron files be edited so the squadron doesnt get transfered to that airfield? or can the Lat/Long of the airfield be edited somewhere safer?

I'd rather not advance the time too far (already did by a month) as I am trying to fly in the winter with this particular pilot ;) .

Any ideas/info/modding tools would be greatly appreciated.

Thank-you

EDIT: In typical ME fashion, 10 minutes after posting/wasting people's time I found a solution.

I don't doubt that other have done this before, but I figure I might as well post it incase some have not. I edited the pilot dossier file specific to the pilot that I am currently using: I changed the squadron.

This also serves to spice things up! I've got ~60 game hours in the SE.5 and was really starting to get bored of the same old routine. I transfered myself (my justification was that requesting transfers were somewhat realistic anyhow) to a RNAS squadron flying camels. I am now at a new airfield flying the proper aircraft along side of the correct aces etc. All seems to be running flawlessly.

If anyone would like the fine details on how to do this i'll be happy to post it.

It HAS been done, but it's meant Not To Be Done . . it's called Tough Toenails, reason it's not shouted from the mountaintops is when somebody does a ooops! in there, then asks for support :ernae:

I thought that changing your squadron or transferring would mess up your recorded hours of flight time and kills and medals and so on? Has this happened to you Nordo?

So far i've had about 6 sorties, and all kills and flight time are recording just fine. The only issue i noticed was that the first sortie since the transfer counted as two missions flown (added an extra to the missions flown count), but the hours and kills still recorded.

I suppose I'm lucky, as despite that first small sortie glitch, everything seems to be just fine. I've still got all my medals/hours/kills etc.

Nice. Maybe I'll try it with an "experimental" pilot. Dont want to lose my good ones. What exactly did you do? Just change the Squad number?

Thanks for the tip how to change Squadron. And the two flights: one of them might have been the distance you would have had to fly from one airfield to the other?

Olham54 - Whether that's true or not, that's how I'm looking at it :).

And yes, all i did was replace any instance of "RFC-56" (my old squadron) with "RNAS-3" (new squadron). Naturally you must change it from/to the squadron that is relevant to you. As extra insurance, be sure to backup both the dossier and the logbook of the pilot you want to transfer, just incase things should go ary. That's what I did...

I must say I'm thrilled at how well this is working; it really opens things up knowing that you don't have to be stuck at the same job forever!

Hope that helps
