Thanks for the Sticky! Here is what each link is for. Listed in order.

AI_Overhual_B24_Gun_Windows.zip: New gun windows for the AI Overhaul B-24D. All but for the top turret are "Hi-Res" 1024x768. Updates to panel.cfg for new view coordinates. This was done to fix the views since many had "clipping" or parts were the 3D model was shown in the 2D gun window like with the Right Chin that was un-aim-able do to "clipping" blocking the sights.

OH_P-39_Model_Update.zip: This will fix the model of the overhual P-39D so that when one looks out they no longer see the odd brown and yellow in the cockpit. It will now be "Bell Green".

L2D_Tabby.zip: Model is B24 Guys' overhaul C-47 model with update Panel and Virtual Cockpit that reflects cockpits of captured L2Ds by Allied forces. Texture is by Ecat. Downloaded from Netwings before its loss and updated for overhaul C-47 model. US Pilots and Propellers updated to use Japanese textures.

Overhaul_Panel_and_VC_kit.zip: This pack will upgrade the B-25 Mitchell C-47 Dakota, G4M2 Betty, Ki-43 Oscar, P-39 Airacobra and SBD Dauntless Panel and Virtual Cockpit. B-25 Mitchell and G4M2 Betty have new gunner's view panels.
View attachment 60414

R4D_Skytrain.zip: US Navy R4D-6S Skytrain armed with bombs for ASW. Based on B24 Guys' OverHaul C-47. Update to Main Panel, VC, interior textures and gauges.

Windows 7 just won't cooperate

I tried the new panels by Allen, but everything turned haywire. It's something that has come up before as noted below from a previous post annoucing the B24 Guy's new OH. Gavinc in red and my reply in blue.

I get the same thing when I try to "Look Down". Everything freezes.

The original panels in the first upload by B24 Guy all work for me (except the rear), so I'm happy.

Me Too
Hi,
Finally got around to actually loading up and flying the Overhauled B-24. Quite a masterpiece.
Now we need to get more repaints. The de-mirrored texture should help inspire a few of our own Michaelangelos.

I am seeing an issue with the 2D panel. When I go into another view than forward the panel goes black and CFS freezes or the curser goes into crazy mode.
I am running Windows 7 in 64 bit mode.

This is the same issue that one sees with the YAS Spitfire panel when it has the rear view mirror enabled.

I resolved the issue by removing all the "Fixed Window" entries from the panel.cfg.

Just an FYI as I don't think there is any way to fix this.

Gavin

I have the same problem with Windows 7. Win7 just doesn't like the rear view panel. Same with mrror view in other AC. That said however, all the other B-24 side view panels work for me though. Nothing to do for it but remove the rear view panel. Problem solved. I still have a rear view, just not a panel view. A very small issue when compared to this AC's other great attributes.

I only added new windows (.bmp files) and change view coordinates. I did not any thing else. So if your have this errror with my files you should have them with B24 Guys' too. What aircraft are you seeing this with?

I don't have CFS2 on Win7 so I have no idea how this error is caused or how to fix it.

EDIT:

I put CFS2 on my Win7. I know how to fix this but it is not fun. Any .BMP file used in a "Fixed Window" must be smaller or bigger than 1024x768. I got the B-24 working fine with 800x600 and 640x480 plus a 1280x720 just fine at any of the resolution CFS2 list. If a 1024x768 .bmp is used with CFS2 as a "Fixed Window" it will wig out on a Win7 PC.

Slightly confused!

I never had the problem on XP, but I started noticing Win7 "wigging out" on Rear View Mirror .bmps. Deleting the file curred the wig out and still left me with a rear view, only without the panel.

You may have something with the resolution size. I just converted my B-25 Stocker using The B24 Guy's OH and the aft view from the top turret works. The resolution on it is 640x480. How complicated is it to convert from 1024x768 to 640x480?

It kind of complicated. You can do a basic pixel resize but it don't look good. 800x600 and 1280x720 .BMP work fine for me. The best thing to do is remake them at a new size.

Below are some quick pixel resize, they are not the best but try them. They are at 800x600 that should work. I know they did on my Win7. If the work for you I will make a new set of them at 800x600.

Also the Overhual SBD2 Dauntless, TBD1 Devastator and TBF Avenger use 1024x768 .bmps and won't work right on a Win7 PC.

Success!

Allen
Well, this is the fun part of CFS2. Solving odd problems. I've been in a fog about why Win7 kept rejecting the rear view mirrors. Now the fog has lifted, thanks to you A. The new .bmp's work perfectly. They are much better than the originals, and no wigging out. I'll have to go back and experiment with the Mirror .bmp's.

I do have another question. How do I get the chin gun panels to show? Frankly, I hadn't even noticed those panels before. See what I'm missing. I get so occupied with one thing to the exclusion of everything else.

That is good! I will get around to make a new set that are nicer over all.

On the number pad press...
5 and 9 is Right chin gunner
5 and 7 is Left chin gunner
5 and 2 is Top turret

I'm shaking my head in amazment.

See, there's another little trick I've never seen in a CFS2 AC. Thanks again Allen.

I will be updating every thing but for the OH_P-39_Model_Update.zip. The rest don't work on Windows 7. I have to remake the panels for Windows 7. If they are not right Windows 7 CFS2 users are having the game freeze up.

Edit:

All files are updated so they will work on computes that use Windows 7 OS. No more freezing up for Windows 7 CFS2 users! If you are a Windows 7 CFS2 user re-download the files again.

...I've been in a fog about why Win7 kept rejecting the rear view mirrors. Now the fog has lifted, thanks to you A....

Yep, the fog has lifted. I resized some of my mirror bmps through Ifranview to 800x600 and it worked like a charm in W7. No more freezes.

Thanks for the tip Allen :icon29:

I may have seen something about resizing down to a 640x480 in The B24 Guy has released his namesake! thread. Since I have a Win 7 computer I decided to test this for my self and found out that it works plus 800x600 and 1280x720 as well.

If you have an aircraft that dosn't work I would resize to 800x600 since it will give you less distortion than a 640x480 would. I also found out that planes for Window 7 must have a front panel that is 640x480 and 1024x768 or it will freeze up as well. A plane like the Overhual Kate would not work on Win7.

The Overhual Kate only has a 1024x768 panel. To fix it you must make a copy of the Kate.BMP and name it Kate_640.BMP, now resize Kate_640.BMP to 640x480 than save it.
Inside the Panel.cfg you will see this.

[Window00]
file=Kate.BMP
size_mm=1024
window_size_ratio=1.00
position=7
visible=1
ident=0
render_3d_window=1

You need to replace the above with this.

[Window00]
file=Kate_640.BMP
file_1024=Kate.BMP
size_mm=1024
window_size_ratio=1.00
position=4
visible=1
ident=1
render_3d_window=1
window_size= 1.000, 1.000
window_pos= 0.000, 0.000

Now the Overhual Kate main panel will work on Win 7 computers. It is likely many add-on planes are also like this. Just do the same thing for them with this template.

[Window00]
file=Panel-640x480.BMP here
file_1024=Panel-1024x768.BMP here
size_mm="1024" or "640, 480". Use what is listed in the plane your updating to work on Win 7
window_size_ratio=1.00
position=4
visible=1
ident=1
render_3d_window=1
window_size= 1.000, 1.000
window_pos= 0.000, 0.000

Correct but somebody got there already.

Don't want to steal your thunder, beacuse this has all been an awakening to me, but my zip.file fo the ''AI_overhaul_val", has that exact change already made. When I examined the Panel file this is what I found.

Its okay. I was sure it was the Val but I'm wrong. It was the Kate I had to fix. Updated my above post for the Kate.

Guess I'm back in the Fog

You are correct. The AI Overhaul Kate is the one. Problem is, or, isn't.....for me it works, in Win7.

This is a copy of my Panel from the install of the OH Kate by The B24 Guy.

It did not work on mine at all. Later on I will copy over the OH-Kate as B-24 Guy has it and make sure. I have been know to mess with things... I know I had my R4D Skytrain and L2D Tabby set up with one panel at 1024x768 like the Kate and they failed to work on Win 7 too..
