Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree!

We have two trees, one in the formal living room and one in the family room. Both are live trees! They are so fragrant!

maybe harleyman might know of this.

any of you folks heard of the claymont christmas weed?
in delaware there is a small town called claymont where they decorate a weed every year for christmas. the local paper claims it started in 1993, but i know it was earlier than that. on the median strip on the goveror printz blvd, a weed grew. someone put a christmas ornament on it. next thing you know, other people started putting ornaments and tinsel on it. it became a tradition to decorate a weed every year. one year the local newspaper found out about it. after the weed was stolen and replaced by actual christmas trees several times they hired a guard to protect it. now a weed is selected and decorated every year, and they drag it around on a little wagon as part of a parade.

I like that. Nice tradition.

Chacha~ I love the red & gold theme for your Christmas tree! Very very pretty! A perfect mix of classic & joyous! I bet you and little Hannah had fun decorating it! Do you gals do a gingerbread house every year?

jmig~ If I would not know any better, I would think the picture was taken from the cover of a Christmas card. The "Angel" theme makes it very special!

cheezyflier~ What a cute little story! I did not know that! Thanks for sharing with all of us!

To All: We would love to see more pictures of your Christmas trees or holiday decorations!!

Had to look for the thread, ought to be a sticky for all until Dec 25. C'mon. show your fir!

Here's our tree! Sorry about the bright lighting at the top, solar windows, not so much Green people here as "Cheap" people here. More later, I got a dentist appointment.

Merry Christmas

I also like your fireplace alot. The stonework is awesome!

We decided about five years ago to ditch the real trees , as they were a waste on money and made big messes..

Well, my wife made that decission, not me , and as usual I lost the battle for real ones...

Nice trees gang!

ChaCha, you and Hannah did a great job on yours.

Cloud9Gal, how did you get 2 live trees! Goodness.. Very nice.

HarleyMan, looks very 'Christmasy'.

<-- wonders if its too late to put up my own tree in my office... :snowman:

Nice trees everyone. Harleyman, I feel for ya. Artificial tree here too. At least it's better than the Christmas Stick. I had that for a couple of years back when I was single. At least that's one up over the Christmas Tyvek tree. ;)

Haven't seen that "Christmas weed" here yet Cheezy. But I do remember "the" Christmas Weed from back in my college days. And no, I do not partake of that tradition. :engel016:

Harley, I too love real trees. When our children were small, we use to go as a family to a local tree farm and search for the "perfect" tree that we could also afford.

I would dress up in an early woodsman outfit, complete with suspenders and a homemade bow saw. The kids and I would then proceed to get down and cut (well I cut and they mostly got in the way) down our tree while my wife took pictures.

Then tree, kids and parents all road the wagon back to the car.

After the kids all left, we bought a live tree for a few years, then got the really nice tree (see picture above) for half price after Christmas one year. We have used it every since.

The only really bad thing about it is that it came in ONE box. It how fits into THREE large boxes and I still have to straighten the branches each year when I set it up.

Somehow I always manage to get it stuffed back into the origional box each year...

BUT Its a pains taking process to get the branches fixed again each year as you ststed ...

What I miss more than anything is the lack of that pine smell in the house...

These years yankee candles take care of that for me ...LOL
