Ohio ANG Thunderstreak

Obio is at it again and has come up with some unique textures to simulate glass behind the main cockpit on the Alphasim F-84.

Here's the Thunderstreak in a semi-finished condition representing an F-84 from the Ohio Air National Guard.

What it's doing flying over Bulgaria and Ian's new airfield there is anyone's guess!

Very nice. I would fly this plane more if the VC textures were up to par. I really like the F-84F, but as it is now for me in FS9, this plane just makes really good AI.

I spent some time today working on the VC panel....didn't get far with it...but I did get started on it. I will be working on the VC textures as part of this restoration project. The paint kit of the F-84F and the RF-84F are done....other than adding the small details. I needed a break from the F-105 project, so I spent a few days working on its younger cousin...the F-84F. Will now be returning to the F-105 project and getting as much of it done before our upcoming move....once we move, there is no telling how long it will be before I get my system back up and running.

Sounds like alot of effort. It's too bad the canopy frame and windscreen frame don't have any texture on them at all. That would have made a world of difference with this model.

Yes, I agree that a textured canopy and windscreen frames would have really made the VC much nicer. But, as my grandmother used to say: "The cow and the fly sat around eating milk and cornbread and no one bothered feeding the chickens." Yeah, it made no sense to anyone in the family either, and that's why we put her in the old folks' home.

I found a 2D panel over on Flightsim.com that someone did up for Ito's F-84F....I'm gong to check it out and if it's as good as it appeared to be in that tiny little thumbnail image, I will incorporate that 2D panel into the Alpha Thunderstreak.

Glad to hear you're giving the old bird an update! It's ashame that with the exception of the old AS model, a Thunderstreak with a functioning VC has been sorely overlooked in FS for all these years. I really like Jens' model too...but his is only a straight-wing variant. The swept-wing models just seem so much more appealing (well, to me at least!)....:mixedsmi:

I also have Jens' straight wing F-84G and I have a paint kit I did for the plane. Did some paints for the CFS2 conversion of the G model. After we move and get everything unpacked, I will find the paint kit...archived onto a CD or DVD...and do up some FS9 paints for the plane. But that is down the road...got to finish the F-105 project, the Grumman Ducks, the F-84F and RF-84F project. I have so many projects!
