"Tom,

Hi, I brought my PC in Friday the team worked on it all day everything was going good until Saturday when the system shut down when I tried to restart it it started beeping continually after I removed the usb connection i had on it restarted. this happened again the next day. the next morning after i woke and powered up it wouldn't start correctly until i removed the video cable, it booted, every thing was fine until tonite when I was using it on an application it shut off "I had no USB connection on the system for at least 24hrs) when it booted again it says i needed to run windows repair by the time i got the disk out and rebooted I could not get it to stop beeping or access the DVD/ROM to run the repair utility in succession I tried to remove the wireless card unplugged the HDD to see if the DVD would boot i the removed the video card and plugged the monitor into the the MoBo's video still had no success so again I'm to a logger head and completely stumped."

Hey Capn'...

I hope everything turns out for the better, I'm sorry you had to go through this...

HAH!!! don't be so sure!! last night it said it needed a windows/system32 file then shut off!!! funny thing is that it is XP SP3 i have had nothing but problems with that OS in all of my puters hmmmm could it that our friends @ M$ at sabotaging XP so we will want to get Vista??? hee heee maybe its time to go back to Win98sp2...

Just A Suggestion...

Cap'n T, the common thread to your comp challenge is a POOR GROUND somewhere on the MoBo.

Every time you got the system to fire up, a cable had to be removed ~ that jostles the mother board and reconnects the bad ground long enough to light it up. After a bit, the heat from operation makes the ground tenuous ~ and when it cools down ?

Challenge returns.

My guess is a loose set of MoBo screws... or a cracked motherboard / bad ground.

Good Luck

Capn, I am with sc on this. I am leaning toward a crack in the MB soldering.

Those beeps have meaning dependent upon how many.

How new/old is the PC? Is it still under warranty?
Where have you been taking it for service?
What brand is it?

I have been running XP SP3 now, XP SP2 on both of mine; for over two years on the PC; and just since Nov-Dec on the laptop. Not even a hiccup out of either one.

Get a Mac Pro and boot to windows for games only :applause:

BTW, Is this banana spanking it, or is it just me? :Banane16:
