I bought a version of FSPanel studio before it migrated to FlightOne,

it is telling me it cant find cabarc.exe, which I thought was part of the install?
IF ...I can find the original disc.... would reinstall help?

also, I cant figure how to edit the vc gauge choices from the menus offered.
any tips or links appreciated.

thanks fellers,

brady

Not sure on the cabarc.exe thing but if you click in "Window" you will find the VC windows if it's in the panel cfg. If it's not then add the VC in the panel cfg and then it will show.

FS Panel Studio, as I have found out, does not like VC windows numbered as 0. I have had many instances where a VC panel was numbered as 0 and the program would not list it. Renumbering the VC panels starting with 1 has always cured the problem in my experiences.

Not sure about the cabarc.exe issue. Reinstalling isn't that bad with FS Panel Studio...as long as you have your activation number thingie.

Have FSPanel Studio, 2003 version, and no cabarc.exe in the works.

Ran a search of my system and came up empty for the cabarc.exe

On my system (Win XP SP3) cabarc.exe is found under C;\Windows\System32. Small file...117kb. Not sure what the version/date on my FS Panel Studio is.

Version 1.1, Build 18222, Dec 9/2005

well shoot I ast google and cabarc is part of the ms cab sdk. I dl'd it just now and will install.
it might have been whacked out of my system during the late "xp service reinstall and gnashing of teeth phase"

off to fiddle,

Well that's weird... Looked in C:\WINDOWS\system32 and there it is...CABARC.EXE -- 112kb

Darned search didn't find it!

(I had system folders unchecked in the search...I wonder about myself sometimes)

got cabarc reinstalled in windows/sytem32. works now!
found vc windows.
now, onward and upward

thanks guys

I tired to buy the FS panel studio through Flight1 but the window came up with no longer availble! Does Abacus have a FS panel maker?? Will it work in FS9? Or FSX?

Cheers

can fspanel studio actually place new gauges in the vc, or simply swap gauges already mapped?

yes :icon_lol:

http://www.fspanelstudio.com/index.htm

"Use your mouse to add, delete, move and resize Gauges. Stretch gauge widths or heights independently for a perfect fit. Add windows and set their positions with 1 pixel accuracy. For the first time you can create new Gauges, and edit (using your favorite bitmap editor) any Gauge bitmap for a truly unique Panel."

While FS Panel Studio can be used to perform some editing of gauge placement in Virtual Cockpits, VCs are primarily implemented in the model.cfg file, which defines 3D geometry which cannot be edited in FSPS.

So, you can move, replace, add gauges in the VC, but the space and shape are defined by the modeler (and sometimes restrictive depending how he built the VC panels). It's hit-or-miss but some panels and the VC's mod beautifully. In the tough ones it's often easier to swap a few gauges and then build a pop-up panel for odds & ends.
