Oldie but goldie - maam sim's c-47/dc-3

I still enjoy trundling MAAM'S Douglas Dakota or C-47 Skytrain round the circuits. Snatching an hour or so on the Sim when I can means that time is precious and I often find myself neglecting this excellent version in favour of Manfred's Skytrain with its auto-start capability.

Much as I love the Project Tupolev Tu-154M, I just do not have the time or inclination to start it up by the book. An un-official mod to give this fine model an auto-start capability has been done and I use this a/c for med to long haul flts much more than the man start version.

Has anyone modded the MAAM C-47 for auto start or is there a way I can fix it myself?

I don't wish to step on anyones toes, but the MAAM-SIM Gooney Bird is still my favorite. Fly the old girls quite often. Immortable, like the original one.

Cheers,
Maarten

I feel the same way about the Connie series by Manfred Jahn and friends. It also refuses to start if you try hitting ctrl+E from a cold-dark state, but I found that if you pull up the engineer's panel and flip on the battery switch, ctrl+E will then start the engines. My suggestion would be to try ctrl+E after each step in the manual. I suspect that it won't be long before it works.

Thanks for that Tom.

Your point about the batt switch to on is taken. Not that I do not check it, but I suspect that because I have selected the 'batt life unlimited' option in FSUIPC, this is what is making starting variable. I have started the Dak using the internal start switches, but it is only a once in 20 tries occasion.

Will switch off 'batt life unlimited' in FSUIPC and see if this changes things.

No big deal, but thought that others might have experienced the non-auto start in this model.

Thank you again for your useful response.

That option in FSUIPC may not do anything. With the Connies, it's a gauge issue. If I pull up the FE panel while cold and dark and then hit Ctrl+E, I can see the Sim trying to flip the battery switch, but it won't stay on.
