A good day to everybody!

I just read an e-mail Xavierb2 sent me on Dec. 2nd. Unfortunately, I am so busy in this pre-Christmas time, both at my job and helping my almost 80 year old mom, that I hadn't looked at my e-mail since the end of November.

Xavier is unable to log in here at SOH anymore. I suspect he missed Ickie's last security measure, when Jagdfleger asked all of us to reply briefly in order to avoid cancellation of our accounts.

I just replied Xavier I was going to post his problem here and I am waiting for his reply confirming whether he missed the security warning or not.

The follwing is the error message, he gets everytime, that I copied from his e-mail:

he needs to contact me, not take it up in the forums for debate
he also need to contact his ISP and tell them they are to blame for allowing hackers and bot free access to the internet, If they really want to help this guy they will assign him a static IP, if they dont than they confirm to me that their are the scum I made them out to be.

I block 100 of the worlds worst ISP's and if he is one of their customers then he needs to complaine to me or his ISP no one else.

I have placed a banner at the top of the page and work 1 on 1 with members, to deal with this, and if my protocals are not going to be used Than I will pull all the help and force users to change their ISP's. Note I will not remove the ISP from my list, they are there for a reason google "honeypot" you will see the good guys a work trying to clean up the internet. Personally I am tires of the 2000 attacks a day SOH gets, I now have it down to 500 but that is 499 too many.

if this is going to be a debate than what shall I do, protect you from attacks of pull all my security measures and let the hackers, bots IP viruses win and have a field day.

If you ever wanted to know where all them viruses and them trick popups come from, well they live on the servers I block.
lookup "operation honeypot" on google you will get all the info, and we are growing in numbers every day. :icon34: We have traps set every-where and log their every move and when a new one pops up we add them to our scripts, take no prisoners, kill them all.

Perusing your list validated my trust in my computers firewalls and spygear. Recently I was surfing and directed to the Fsfreeware site in curiousity. My computer screen was suddenly filled with notices that this is a notorious site and to leave PDQ!. That I did, and now feel better for it. THANK YOU:salute: for your strivations!:icon29:

Ickie,

by no means at all this was meant to criticize the highly commendable job you do, day in and day out, to protect this invaluable website.

I say invaluable because SOH not only contains all of your programming and web design efforts. It also preserves all the volunteer work done by hundreds of members without which we would never have achieved such beauty and accuracy civilian and combat flight simulation level with off-the-shelf Microsoft products. Xavier himself uploaded wonderful CFS2 addons.

Being a Microsoft Office instructor myself, I know damn well about all the crap, please forgive my frankness, that circulates over the net and all the idiots who dedicate their time giving hell to honest web users.

You went out of your way a thousandfold to protect SOH and all of us.

Xavier just wrote me an e-mail and I thought he missed your safety procedure warning. Jagdflieger and other older members know Xavier well to reckon if he is using a pirate provider, he must not be aware of it. Few years back his job took him and his wife from Spain to a mere 85km away from me, on the other side of the mountains.

If, for some reason, I cannot rely your explanation to him in full, I am willing to grab my car, drive down to La Spezia and give him a copy of this thread with all the info you wrote.

I haven't checked my e-mail since yesterday, I still don't know if he read my reply.

The purpose of this thread was to gather intelligence in order to help Xavier returning this his full membership status and, I must say, I hit my target.

I'll keep you posted and I am sure together we'll all be able to help Xavier.

all he needs is a static IP I can whitelist a single IP without opening the door to the hacker network.

La Spezia? Great historic town. I spent (US) Thanksgiving(1965) there and had a great feast with some of the locals. Few realize that it was a major U-Boat base during WW2 and that if you really knew what to look for all was still there. The pens and the mountaintop AA.
 
I just sent Xavier a copy of this thread with Ickie's intructions.

For some reason he hasn't replied me yet, I hope he hadn't returned to Spain to celebrate the Holydays with his relatives.

I hope he checks his mail soon.

If he can't contact Ickie directly, he can always send me a static IP address to fix his membership status. I'll then turn it over to Ickie.
