'On Halloween, Pontiac Dies'

I've always owned Pontiacs. While my G6 is a sexy car with lots of extras, they did a lousey job putting it together. I'm hoping it will last six more years, but that may be a dream.

When I've had a car instead of a pickup, most of the time it's been a Pontiac. I'll miss them.

Almost all of my best cars were Pontiacs.. From 2 Fiero 2M4's (a 1984 and 1985), then I had a 2003 Grand Prix GTP (which was in brand new shape until it got totalled by an illegal alien in 2009, I am still angry about that one). Only one that I have had slight complaints about is that 2008 Grand Prix GXP we bought, and it started having electrical/transmission issues. Managed to get rid of it before it kicked the can. Guess they probably should not have crammed a V-8 in there. It is definately a shame to see them go though. As I think of all the GM brands Pontiac has always had the best styling with Cadillac following a close second. Everything else in comparison just looks bland. Although the Aztek is the ugliest vehicle I think ever created on this earth.

I read something recently that Pontiac is alive and well in Mexico. Apparently, the plan is to bring the name back when the economy (and GM) turns around.

Given the financial problems with the American car companies, I think my next car will be Ford. They are the only car company to remain financially responsible during all this mess.

That being said, Fisker purchased the local GM plant to build electric/hybrid cars. I think they are looking to produce the Nina there. Perhaps that will be my next purchase.

I always preferred the Pontiac Firebird over the Chevrolet Camaro. There always seemed to be scads of Cameros, but fewer Firebirds and I thought the Firebird had more style.

Lets not forget the wonderful designs they had way back in the 50's with about 500 lbs of chrome.

The same person that has the planeaday.com site has started wheelsaday.com. You will no doubt find some rare photos there eventually. He just started it a few days ago.

For those who rememberer, prepare to weep, for those who never knew of these, you missed a lot.....For those who think this will all return?..think again.....Vin

....I had a Pontiac 6000 SE from 86'-97'. Good, reliable car. Of course it was a typical 'badged-over' GM Chevy Celebrity and Buick Century. All the same car. Typical GM mind think.
As a kid,....I remember how cool it was to see the clear, amber colored hood ornament of Chief Pontiac aglow at night. Along with some pretty nifty two tone paint jobs that made the illuminated chief stand out distinctly.

When I was a kid, my folks had a 51 Pontiac with the illuminated chief hood ornament.

My first one was a 67 Ram Air GTO. Ex drag race car that had been rode hard and put up wet. But it was still a powerhouse on wheels. My next one was a 75 LeMans Sport Coupe GT with a 455 in it. Loved that car. I lost it in a head on collision with a drunk in a pickup on a country road. I sure wish I still had either it or the GTO.
