Operation FRANTIC has arrived!!!

Thanks for that, Rami

Brings up another question: If I want to install the BoB airbases to a current install (CFS2_ETO_Late_2) and I've already got it in another (CFS2_ETO_Early) is there a way without uninstalling the old one? What does the install program look for?

Alpha_1,

Now you're beginning to understand why I have a centralized scenery setup for Europe, Ke-mo sah-bee. Because it runs off the same scenery folder, all I have to worry about are the GSL files and making sure all of the objects_dp for the BoB bases are copied into both installs.

Great Idea

.....But.......seeing I haven't done that is there a way to redirect the install to wherever I choose? I haven't got a clue which dp's etc. are part of the install. The GSL's I can figure out and just copy them, use GSLman and activate them, also the layouts are straightforward and easy to copy over, your 'master' layout file notwithstanding.

There's obviously a 'key' that the install looks for in order to direct itself. If I knew what that was, I could manually change the 'key' in any of my current installs in order to put it where I want it. The 'key' could be 'cfs2.exe', or 'cfs2.cfg' or something similar. I've tried temporarily renaming any 'cfs2.exe' files on my computer but that doesn't do it.

Any ideas?

Alpha_1,

No, there is no way to "trick" the auto-installer, unless you install it to a "dummy" folder on your desktop.

What you can do is copy the entire scenedb\CFS2BoB folder over to your other install, and use the manual GSL files I posted earlier to update the GSL file in your other install. Getting the individual objects_dp files, as well as the .bgl and bitmap textures out of the scenedb\inf\scenery and scenedb\inf\texture folders might be a bit trickier.

Actually...this would be a good place to start: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/downloads/download.php?lloc=downloads&FileID=4221

This will provide you with about 75-80% of the objects in the auto-installer package...you can use the process of elimination (seeing what error messages crop up) to find the others. From your earlier posts, we know that duxhut1 and bicester are two the ones which are not in this package I linked to you.

Also....the "oiltank" is not in that package I linked, either. So there are three of the missing objects_dp files to search for in the install that you have the BoB pack in, all you have to do is copy them over to the other install.

Under da weather....

Sorry I haven't gotten back to you on this.....I picked up a cold and it's a doozer (runnin' around naked at the Toronto International Air Show did it, alright!)!

This is excellent information, Rami. Thank you for all this. I'll get on it and see what's what.

Cheers!:ernae:
