    If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

    Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

Hi All,

Downloading time on my Network here at basecamp is at a premium (Wife's Work VPN is hooked up to her company Router here...which I also use as my networks gateway..so sue me!..lol)

I have used DAP in the past, but heard rumblings about the additional adware associated with it, and in the course of my work as a PC Engineer, have had clients mention it too.

Anyone know of a cheap /free alternative they would recommend?
 
second that CJ....used "free download manager" for ages now with absolutely no complaints or problems.

others have recommended getright in the past.....was certainly the program advocated by the Dev' team for P1 and P2
 
Getright's been sweet to me for sometime now. Very easy to manage.
 
But FDM is a completely free, fully functional version, not a trial of payware like Getright. I used FDM to download Phase 2 on dialup. It took a month. No problems.
