OT Bicycle Land Speed Record Attempt

I found this interesting article today. Its funny how people come up with these ideas out of the blue and actually do them.

Person A and Person B sitting and watching a Cycle race.

Person A says that's nothing I could build one of those using nothing but wood.

Person B "You build it out of wood and I will set the land speed record with it"

And that brought us to here

http://www.cnn.com/2011/TECH/innovation/05/30/eco.wooden.bike/index.html

and their site here

http://www.splinterbike.co.uk/blog/nowihavesomegoodnews

I am not sure they can set the land speed record by cycle but they may be able to set the land speed record by a wooden cycle. Provided it holds together.

Pretty nice looking I would not mind riding it to see how it does.

Ha Ha I just had a thought. :icon_lol:

I just read this part of their page

Corporate sponsorship, if you would like to get your company to support the SplinterBike then now's your chance. This project is being filmed for a documentary by TopBox Media and will inevitably be on our TV screens in the very near future, so your company's involvement will be wisely placed - all the official pictures of the bike will be widely published.

How about we sponsor them so we can get our SOH Graphics and web address on the bike?

No I am not actually serious about that but I do think it would be a cool thing to do but probably far too expensive.
