OT but I think it will be of interest....

That 1:32 scale b-17 is very nice, the detail is amazing. Gunna keep an eye on this one as i've always wanted one in this scale. Thanks for the links Colin.:salute:

Massive level of detail in that -17.

I was never much of a model maker however..though I built a couple of balsa models when I was a young fella. I'll never forget the look on my mother's face after she came home from town after I'd asked her to get me some kit building supplies......."That's the last time I ever buy anything for you", she said after getting some weird looks after asking for "dope" for her son! ;) :d

Try going into a store picking up some Prophylactics, vaseline, rope and duct tape and seeing the looks you'll get from the cashier! :icon_lol:

i remember years ago, my dad did a 1:32 B29, the thing was huge hanging from his man cave ceiling

havent built anything since a kid, but its good to see that kits are getting bigger, i can only remember that b17s were only 1:48 and smaller scales
 
I actually have the B-25H ordered already. I also ordered the 1/32 Ta-152H-1. I usually build 1/48 scale and some 1/72, but these kits were so nice, I couldn't pass them up.

Next year, Wingscale is supposed to be bringing out a 1/32 B-26, and the one I must definitely get, a 1/32 P-61.
 
That looks beautiful. I hope the production versions fits as well as the prototype! The fit looks pretty good. A little putty on the top/bottom seams and it will be fine. I wish they would rethink the landing gear and go with metal ones, either white metal or brass. That is a lot of plane to put on plastic gears, especially the tailwheel.

Where ya gonna put it! You need to add a room to yer house!

I'm a scale modeler, but get beyond 1/72 and yer talking breaking BIG. I am too blind to work on something that BIG. While working on one end, I'd break the other. Glad someone's stepping up to the plate for the rich that can afford it too, $250.00 and that is cutting out the middle man! Money might make the world go round, but lack of money make socialists and revolutionaries.

I have been building kits as far as I can remember, but my real love is making "scratchbuilt" models from Mahogany and other woods. I did my first one around 55 years ago and it was a Hellcat from Comet. From then on I have made around 200 or more...I usually make "not to well known aircraft of Italian origin" but I also make others....The B-18 Bolo, below was thanks to the Washington Air Museum who searched plans for me for over 6 months finally finding them in some way out there warehouse and send them to me free....great aviation loving guys there.

As a junior in high school I built a P-51 out of wood for a History Project.
 
Have (had) both the B-17 and the B-25 scale 1/48 by Franklin Mint collectibles. The mentioning of "had" is due to the fact my cats seemed to disagree with the two airplanes. They managed to wreck the support shelf the aircraft were situated on. The B-25 is damaged beyond repair. The B-17 is probably still worth the effort of repair. It was a sad day for my models collection. Latest victim of my 3 Al Qaida-cats :173go1:was my scale 1/72 hand-made coastal rigged bulk carrier ship model. This one i was able to fix. :salute:

Glad you guys liked the Bolo....Warrant that ship of yours looks wonderful.....sorry about your cats messing up the collection....:wavey:...when plastics started, way back around 1952-53 there were a combination of wood and plastic models. I built a P-51 where the fuselage, wings and tail feathers were wood and the rest of small parts were red plastic, it was made by Hawk, who later became Monogram.......:wiggle:
 
To add to the list of things I must buy ( Vertigo, A2A, etc aircraft, ORBX sceneries) when I get back to normal I now must add the B-17 and B-25 here.... awesome detail! :jump:
