OT Downloading youtube Vids

Hi Guys,

Just a quick question please

Using Download manager (thanks for all those who recommended it...now in my 'Must have' software pile)....anyone know the legal stance re:-downloading Videos from youtube?....I assume they are copywrited...but then, if that's the case, youtube itself must be Illegal?

Just interested to know what the law's take on it is?

In away everything is copyrighted. The original person owns the medium, such as your and mine avatar, correct.

Stuff on YouTube, I would say most people post knowing it can be used in anyway once posted, all control is lost, unless it does say "copyrighted" in the video.

Its not only a legal issue but one for each of us to consider as a moral issue too.

I have aircraft plans I sell for modification to the Pietenpol AirCamper that I designed and have a patent pending on. But its hard to control if someone else uses them once I sell to the customer. Even with them copyrighted too.

I must trust they will abide by the meaning of the legal statement "copyrighted/patent pending". Sort of " in God we trust, all others pay cash" thing.

Its up to you on what you download, if its just for you I say okay. If you start to share it or profit by it , no.

Thanks for that WF2...I can see your point.
I 'may' download 'some' content at some stage (I actually think a montage of OFF Vids would be nice to have all in one place) but I can see where you are coming from.
