hey all...i really cant remember if i shared this or not....my self and 4 other guys restored this 1914 buick hose wagon, the Auburn Fire Department had 2 1914 buick hose wagons, and one 1916 chemical truck (they were failures)they were still in use after world war two...im not sure i remember what year they were removed from service, but i remember seeing the restored truck on a fire in a pic dated 1952,which btw,,was a fire at the fire chiefs bakery...this was an all volunteer fire department for over 150 years, and the fire chief,,Henry Gietsen was chief for more than 65 years,anyway..his bakery burned..and i belive that fire was the last fire this hose wagon was used on....they bought a bunch of new engines after that.all three buicks were bought new as rolling chasis..came with fenders, radiator, engine, running gear, steering gear/wheel/collum
the firewall, the bed,and the iron handrails, and ornimatation was handmade.the ladder was handmade as well...everything was made at the auburn iron works...they opened in the 1880s and are still open today..we won best in class, and peoples choice while at a national buick convention in 1985,in Universal city,at the universal studios,,they put us inside the main lobby of the hotel, everyone who came in..wether they were a part of the buick show..or not, they saw our truck..with our two trophies..we were also in full dress uniforms...View attachment 56669View attachment 56672
