one of the most famous.....very sad.

It is with great sadness we share the news of the passing of Don Allen, a S/Sgt in 334 and one of the most prolific nose artists in the 8th Air Force. Don took part in the Russia Shuttle mission, and after the war designed the 4th Fighter Group monuments that reside at Debden Airdrome (now Carver Barracks) and in Memorial Park on the grounds of the National Museum of the US Air Force. Don was an ardent supporter of the Group and its history - he will be missed.

Yep, slowly they pass with time. Sad to hear and always a loss when another Vet leaves this earth. RIP Sgt Allen. :medals::salute:

Very sad to hear. Indirectly responsible for many a Mustang repaint and certainly got me started years back. Rest in peace.
