Well instead of risking a cyberpower order, I've decided to try my hand at system building. Inbound from newegg are the following items:

  • RAIDMAX SIRIUS ATX-701WB Black Aluminum Mid Tower Computer Case
  • ECS BLACK SERIES P45T-AD3 LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX Intel Motherboard
  • Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 3.0GHz LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor
  • Sapphire Toxic Radeon HD 3870 512MB vid card
  • OCZ Gold edition 4GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM
  • OCZ Fatal1ty OCZ700FTY 700W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC PSU
  • Western Digital Caviar Black WD7501AALS 750GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s
  • Rosewill RNX-G300LX IEEE 802.11b/g PCI Wireless Card
  • Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
I ended up spending a little more than planned, but I've heard god things about Sapphire cards. Any thoughts? Thanks to harleyman for help with the parts list. I really don't know much about PSU's.

Can't wait to run FS9 full out!:jump::jump::jump:

So is this everything you need to build your new tower/PC?

Actually no its more than most people would need.

WH added a Wireless networking card to the system which is not some thing most people would need.

Other than that it looks like a solid system.

Two things I would look at adding to the Build would be an After market CPU cooler. The Original Intel LGA 775 cooler that came with my P4 was poor at best. I got better cooling from a Cool Max CPU cooler. I can't remember the model.

The other thing I would look at is Case cooling. Of course the case may have enough fans I have not looked at it but good airflow is important.

Other than that looks like the good times are ready to roll.

Fully recognizing the old addage "each to is own" in this arena, my last three vid cards have been Sapphire ATI and I couldn't be more pleased.

My current card is a Sapphire Toxic Radeon HD 4870 Extreme 1.0GB vid card and, for me anyway, it is a real screamer!

Also must agree with DD26, seriously consider going after-market CPU cooling.
In the long run it will be a good investment.

Well, crap! Had the thing running for three days and got
Pri master hard disk SMART Status BAD backup and replace
Of course it was just about when X3 was done downloading. Luckily all I lose is windows and some beginning freeware programs, nothing FS related. Definitely calling newegg....:kilroy:
